Country Area Up Old Shelby Into Route 10 and Every, Hickory, NC 28602 |

I've had every carrier offered in Hickory. I live out in country country. The only one that has given me A+ reception everywhere is Verizon. So I think this area probably has all Verizon towers. It's certainly Verizon country.

If I'm lucky, I get one bar here in NE Hickory. Same on other phones in the family, some not iPhones. Looking at the map, it is evident that there are no towers nearby, which is strange since this is a fairly dense residential area. I sent an email to AT&T Wireless, though I don't expect a real answer. Does anybody know a good place to get this information to the powers that be at AT&T, not just some drone in customer "service?" And when are getting 3G service?

Alltel service has been very good since I've had it for several months. I've yet to find a place I don't get service and it's to the point now to where I just expect to be able to make a call and don't even check signal. The signal is strong, usually 5-6 bars when I do check throughout most of Hickory in my usage and the calls sound clear. I also noticed within the past month that I'm getting an EV signal which I was told means that Alltel has high-speed data in the area now. Hwy. 70 is very solid as well as mall where I work. But it also works well away from the interstate and highway roads to where I still usually have 5 bars at my house near 29th ave.

The only weak area in Hickory for Verizon. This area is weak in most of the apartment complexes and runs along 16th St. NE, parallel to and between Hwy. 127 and Springs Rd. 16th St. NE is lower in elevation than the other roads and not close enough to the 127 or Springs Rd. towers to accommodtae all of the Verizon users in the area. New towers are going up nearby however, and hopefully Verizon will install equipment to help fix this prblem.

Cingular has been my worst nightmare. They keep the information about the minutes used with 3~5 days delays, sometimes is even worst. At this moment, my minutes have not been updated since July 28th (22 days ago). ASAP I am going to get rid of these guys. They are very, very bad. My best advice: Never try Cingular. Period.

Very happy with service in Hickory. Occasional problems with indoor service but usually where you'd expect problems (lower floors, building centers, elevators). The 321 corridor could use some help. There are 3-4 known "drop" spots between Hickory and I-85 in Gastonia. Still consistently better than other carriers I have used (Nextel, Sprint).

I get 2-3 bars (out of 4) at Lenoir-Rhyne college. Seems like AT&T started covering Hickory area on 11/4/04.

Pretty good reception around town, except inside buildings. I have to be close to an outside wall at work and at home.
