Work - 70A area - zero bars - I can see the old Alltel tower by Home Depot but my guess is Verizon has started to drop some of these towers. I purchased a ZBoost(not thru VZ). With booster I get 5 bars but only in my office. With Alltel, I had 5 bars everywhere in the building. I suspect that the VZ tower is on the other side of the hill from me in Daniel Boone. Home - 1 mile from the tower at Flying Elephant Rd. - had 5 bars of beautiful, faultless coverage UNTIL 6 / 14 / 11. As of 6 / 14 this tower has now been pulled and I barely get a few bars on 1X. Customer service has tried switching phones, software upgrades, excuses and still service keeps going down hill. I believe that I may have to investigate how the service is for AT&T. Overall, unless you are driving on the interstate or in the downtown area of a town, GOOD LUCK with VZ.

Have not be able to use my phone in my home for about a month now. I have been calling verison. One person told me they were having outage issues here. Another said they were not. Customer service don't know what they are talking about. They got me to order a new phone with another 2 year agreement until I found out it was the service, not my phone. They are doing nothing about it. As much as I pay, I should be able to use my phone in my own phone. If I get on the highway, my phone is fine. This stinks!

Long, unsuccessful journey with Verizon. -Was an Alltel costumer with a really old Nokia phone and GREAT reception. -Had to get new phone - Lost A LOT of reception -Got (paid for) a Network Extender THEN learned I had to switch to a Verizon price plan which put me on Verizon towers (not Alltel towers) and reception got even worse. -Got charged (although they did adjust the bill) a lot more. -Still miss calls even with Network Extender -Have very limited Data (texting only) capabilities (the Network Extender only works with voice, not data) -IF I make it home without dropping the call it takes a LONG time to switch over to the Network Extender once I drop the call inside the house. -In my opinion the Network extenders puts all the responsibility on the customer to provide a signal instead of Verizon addressing the problem and either paying to use Alltel's old towers or putting new ones up. -All my neighbors have the same problem. -Verizon's coverage maps are very deceiving. At least AT&T gives you the amount of signal strength. -Overall - VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH VERIZON.

Verizon does not always work in this area. It is getting worse and worse every year. I have been a customer for over ten years. I had Verizon at first because of the great coverage out here, but sense the Alltel merge things have gone down hill. I was told by customer service that because of the merge in towers my signal would not get any better and that they had no plans to address the problem. I was told I would have to by a extender to get a better signal. In other words tough luck. Verizon sucks.

It is very hard to get a signal here, you have to go out in the yard, or walk back and forth to get a signal, most of the time we dont have a signal from nextel. We sure pay alot for it to have no signal

On good days, can talk in my yard if I stand still. No reception in the house. It seems to be directly on NC 86 (while driving) but the further I get off NC-86 on Kenion Rd the worse it gets until I either get dropped or it becomes unusably broken up within.5 miles.

Signal fluctuates in strength from lowest to 40%. Calls are poor quality with dropouts in sounds. Some areas inside wood frame house have no reception at all. Seems to have gotten significanly worse in 2007.

US 50 / US 70, Hillsborough, NC 27278 Wed Jun 01, 2005

My wife and I have Verizon digital service. As soon as you exit US 50 into our neighborhood, the "Extended Service" icon pops up and you either loose your call, or reception becomes garbled by static and / or fading. The same thing happens when going further south toward South Carolina. I am frantically looking for another carrier.
