I loved Alltel! I lived in NC and would frequently travel to Pa to see family and I always had full bars! It was amazing!

When it was suncom I got a minimum 3bars inside and outside. Since T-Mobile took over I get NOTHING... .absolutely sucks... im paying for two lines that we cant use until we get to the scotchman on 53... no service in verona or haws run / southwest. T-Mobile claims I should have 1-2 bars... yea right.. they dont even have any kind of contracts in place with other wireless companies so that we can roam off other towers to have service... ..I have been with this company for 5years and was not disatisfied til T-Mobile took over..I will def be switching companies come february. How can a company take over another company but not take over their towers? kinda pointless!

I've actually used a few different phones through the years with U.S. Cellular; They all performed equally. I tried phones from four different providers before finding U.S. Cellular; I couldn't get a signal even outside my home from the first four (sorry, after all these years I can't recall who the four were). I had never heard of U.S. Cellular before that time, but was growing desperate. The first thing I noticed was that I had a signal when I got out of my car at home. The second thing was that after entering my home I no longer had a signal. Overall it's sometimes possible to hold a conversation inside; other times I have to exit the house (and sit in the car if it's raining!). I have to add that I have ALWAYS had a signal anywhere else I can think of. Also, visiting friends of mine or neighbors DON'T get a signal here All of this is pretty much moot now; I have unlimited long distance 24 / 7 Nationwide plus ten calling features after switching my land line to my cable company, and it costs a lot less than what the first land line had been charging me just to have a phone on the wall, no nothing. I have never had a serious problem with U.S.Cellular. Their insurance carrier raised my deductible from $35.00 to $50.00 after I lost my first phone and filed a claim. And the next time I needed a replacement the first two I was sent had problems and had to be returned. But that's not U.S.Cellular, it's the carrier they use.

I have been forced to become Verizon. With Alltel, there were no problems. Since the Verizon takeover was finalized, my reception has been poor, and customer service in relation to the problem worse. I used to have 4 bars at my home and now mostly two to occasionally three. Not happy.

I get great reception at my home, school, and work. Also, Ive never had a problem on base, at the beach, or on Western Blvd. My phone is a crappy, but other LGs are great. I have had Cingular for almost 4 years, and the only problem I have ever encountered with service was on Hwy. 101 (near Ellis Airport and Mikes Farm) and in the Verona / Dixon area. Otherwise, the service is great. However, I am currently looking for a new service for when I go to college. I have heard that AT&T's service is horrible in the mountians of North Carolina, where I will be going to school. I have been all the way up and down the east coast of the USA and into Canada with Cingular and Ive never had a problem.

Was standing at the Veriozon store in the mall and had absolutly no reception and they couldnt tell me why! Might be a good company on the west coast but sucks here on the east coast. Also, reception is at best 1, maybe 2 bars and thats on a shiny day with no clouds out, on base.

Get great reception in my house and all over town and surrounding towns. Mine works great in the Jacksonville Mall. Use it all the time in the local stores to find my shopping partner when we've "lost" each other. I've used it on the base but not all over the base. Travel a lot to New Bern, Fayetteville and Wilmington. Always get good recepton indoors or outdoors. Used to not be so good in the Smokey Mountains but with the towers they've added it works great now. Been to NY, NJ, PA, VA, MD, MO, LV, AR, TX, OK, SC, GA, FL, MS and never had a problem. Have had Alltel from the start and the service only gets better. I agree with the guy who says the phone's an important issue and tri-mode picks up anyone's signal.

No problems with vox calls due to reception or call drops, but data is simply a no-go here. I have always assumed it was due to contracting issues with other carriers because even at full signal strength, I can't access the web, send or recieve pictures, but I can always text. Tell me it's a b / w usage thing, which is probably regulated by something written on paper. Tough phone, though. Takes a beating.

in the house just forget about it you dont get signal, but when you walk out the front door you get 1 bar maybe 2 if your lucky.. the company told me its because I live a mile away from a tower. theres supposed to be a tower on blue creek which I get great signal at our friends house who lives on blue creek. I also get really good signal on both bases. I also travel from flordia to illinois and I get great signal while traveling too. illinois does not have Alltel but I get great signal at my mothers house. I really like Alltel and dont want to switch companys..

I switched from US Cellular to Cingular. Not a good move. Calls drop while traveling on 17 south of Jacksonville and no bars in Rock Creek where we live. I was told it is the only plan to have while traveling... the person that told me must not travel. I will be changing again even though it will be costly.

I typically get 3-5 bars inside the house with my v551, and my husband's v220 gets typically either the same or one bar less than mine does. I get great reception all over Jacksonville, even on the bases. I get no reception inside the Comissary on New River, but I didn't get any reception there with US Cellular, either. Reception in the Jacksonville Mall is touch-and-go with both Cingular and US Cellular, in my experience with these carriers. I had a LG VX4400 with US Cellular.

Always have reception on base. Even inside theBarracks! Was told that Alltel has the most towers on base and was the reason I got it, since alot of carriers have hardly any signal out here. In jacksonville its great to. Glad I picked Alltel!

Great coverage all over the county. I am an EMT and do local transports from the hospital to all over the county. Have only been to one spot that I havent had reception (Road off of Old 30, back in the sticks and our Nextel we use for work and my partners Verizon phone didnt work either). Also go to Wilmington, Greenville, Kinston, New Burn and Chapel Hill and have never had a problem placing a call. Also, the EV network is everywhere around Jacksonville and is great for fast internet use... downloads are a lot faster than with my old phone that didnt have the EV network.

I have never dropped a call. I have a smart phone and I actually have broadband internet on it. Alltel is the only carrier in my part of Eastern NC that has broadband on cell phones. I get coverage everywhere I have been on base (Alltel has 8 towers on Camp Lejeune). I have tried Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint and had major problems with them.

almost out of a 2 year contract. Reception has never been good with this company. Tower is withing 5 miles and was told by field reps that for my area it would be iffy. Service is not good unless you walk around outsideto find a connection, then it may be dropped. They need do more towers or whatever when this is your only means of connecting with outside world. Very dissapointed customer.

I have found Alltel to be much more reliable than just about anybody else in this area. I carry a Verizon phone through work thanks to a big company discount but there's not really anywhere I can think of where the Verizon signal is better. The Alltel signal hangs seems to be stronger all over the area here. I get a full 5 of 5 bars signal sitting inside my apartment where I get 1 of 5 bars with Verizon. Inside, especially in buldings like Wal-Mart or the Mall, Alltel is by far has the strongest signal with clearer calls. Same is true for a number of other places I could list out. Overall, I've just been happy with Alltel here. I've also heard some good things, some bad about US Cellular. They're a smaller company and they use gimmicks. Read all the small print with them, some plans don't have free mobile-to-mobile, some do. Some family plans are very different from individual plans. My mom uses them but has had a time with billing errors and just understanding it is a task. I've never noticed an area where US Cellular was better than Alltel or Verizon. Verizon is a little more expensive and Alltel is more generous with minutes and My Circle if you compare the plans. But I would recommend sticking to Alltel first, Verizon second, then everybody else. just the experience I've had in the area with all the local providers.
