Using Straight Talk with ATT carrier for Nokia E5 smart phone, ($169) sadly most of the time I don't get incoming calls. There is a tower within sight of my house but obviously it is not contracted with ATT. My husband has Straight Talk with Verizon carrier for Samsung R355 ($69), he has 6 bars ALL the time. He never misses a call. We previously had 2yr contract with Verizon and my Motorola Droid and his Motorola Q worked better than the land line. I guess I will have to find another smart phone that is carried by Verizon. FYI; I have a friend who has a Droid of some kind with Sprint carrier and she gets little to no servicein this area either.

I've had Verizon for the past year in kings mountain and haven't had any issues with it except in one location on I-85 south about halfway to greenville, sc where a valley causes me to lose reception. Otherwise I've had it in charlotte, greenville, shelby and kings mountain and it works very well even on 3 bars. I don't have a data package though so maybe other people have issues with that.
