Alltel, by far has the best service in northern Union County. Actually many of the areas the other people on here that complained about the other carriers, has not been a problem with Alltel. 601S towards Pageland can be a little touchy, but everywhere north of there is flawless. There is a new tower in Stanfield and Alltel has the only tower in New Salem. I drive all over Charlotte and have no problems at all. People that work at BofA need to try Alltel, because they have antennas on the Marriot building beside the big tower. That should give you the best service of any carrier. They have been here for 20+ years and their network surely shows it.

I have service through AT&T but her the Network is Cingular's once as you travel down Hwy 601 towards Pageland. Have noticed a marked improvement the past year and house located about 4 miles off Hwy 601 and get 3 to 4 bars out of 4. Other people who have come to house with Verizon, Alltel or Nextel get nothing or 1 bar but cannot usually complete calls. Sprint doesn't even get a signal. Cingular has definetly enhanced network going down Hwy 601.

Read some reviews on the Nextel i560 and it was said to be good in the outlying areas. Well I don't see such of a difference from my i90 in the northern part of Union County
