Had to switch from Sprint PCS after several years when reception ceased completely at my house. Next door neighbor had same experience. Alltel is OK.

I've alerted AT&T (Cingular) many times that the signal is low in my neighborhood. I'm right next to the baseball fields. After 2 years the situation didn't get any better. I'm using Verizon for my personal phone, but my work phone is AT&T, so I still experience the same poor signal. My sister's iPhone doesn't get any signal at all in my house.

I moved here from the Northeast and rarely had a problem with reception, even in the mountains of ME. I go from 2 to 4 bars in my home here in Matthews, depending on which room I'm in and which direction I'm sitting or standing. There's a big problem with breaking up and dead and dropped calls. I thought I might need a new phone (as it's 2 years old). After reading the other entry on this site, the phone may be fine; it may just be the area!

When I am coming from the University area, I will am consistently dropped at this intersection before the handoff from one tower to the next is completed.

My calls are always dropped when I am coming from W.T. Harris Blvd.

I have 5 bars, but my call is dropped in less than 1 minute.

Matthews Area, Cingular is by far the best reception so far for this area, My Nextel service is average, and Sprint was terrible, no signal with Sprint inside any buildings in this area.

Have been with Nextel for ten years. Reception is the worst ever! Since Sprint boughtout Nextel- more dropped calls, inability to use direct connect, tons of dead zones- even in dowtown Matthews. Text messages are received days late. Will leave when contract runs out but have no idea which comepany will be better.

Terrible service, can not even work from the house.

Nextel seems to be reliable in Charlotte area, with good use inside buildings. Leaving the metro area signal strength quickly goes to nothing, and the phone is not useable.
