I previously had Cingular but switched because of the $$ we saved on the family plan. Alltel gives way more minutes for the price and My Circle can really cut down on the anytime minutes you pay for. But as for coverage, I expected it to be about the same but it is noticeably better with Alltel. Looking on this site it looks like Alltel has multiple towers covering Nashville while Cingular and USCC just use one. I've especially noticed indoors it seems like it does a lot better. In our subdivision I get a full signal and it stays that way throughout the area basically except it'll drop a bar in some places but calls still sound great. Overall I'm happy because I'm not paying as much for better coverage.

Most places in Nashville, its 5 bars all the way. Sometimes, the tower is full. Dropped calls are only a problem when I'm on the inside of my house and accidently cover the antenna. I had a Motorola V600 and it dropped calls a lot. But, that phone was recalled because it was buggy. I've since used Ericsson and Nokia without a drop. I had a PalmOne Treo 650 and it nevered worked right except in Rocky Mount, and that included when I traveled to Virginia. This was a well-documented phone bug related to the brand of SIM card. This was not Cingular's fault. Towers have EDGE data speeds. Suncom also has a tower in the area. Unlocked GSM phones can use these towers no problem.

Us Cellular has a great reception and signal coverage area. We have been with US Cellular for several years now; the only down fall is the price range.
