A year ago my wife and I upgraded to LG OPTIMUS phones. Should have checked the coverage map first. Old phones worked relatively well. At my home I have one or two bars in the winter and spring months and no bars once the leaves emerge in the spring. I have to go outside make or receive calls. The saving thing is that I have a land line. The service is a disappointment as well as the phone. The phone makes pocket calls and runs apps that I have not initiated. At times there my be any number of apps running. Also 3G service is dropped and the phone has to be reset to get it working. There are three problems with my Sprint service. The service, the phone and the software. Oh well only one more year on the contract.

Sprints cell coverage (especially 3G) is nearly non-existent in this area. We have had problems since day one with Sprint and Galaxy Tablet, and they kept stalling until the 30 day return was up. Their customer service is horrid, and they just keep apoligizing, hanging up on you, not returning calls. Spent literally 2 days on the phone with them trying to get them to admit that the 3G coverage in Raleigh isn't even close to satisfactory. Our Verizon version of the Galaxy Tablet has coverage all over the place. Not with Sprint. Now that we are outside of our 30 day return, they don't care. Called Samsung and their official answer is: "Jailbreak the tablet and move to a good carrier."

Unfortunately after the tornado that went through Raleigh on April 16, 2011 My cell reception has gone to zero. I now say I live in the DEAD ZONE. I am being advised that the 3 towers that were lost during the tornado will be up and functional by the end of the month of JUNE.

On April 16th a tornado hit between Louisburg road and Buffalo road, God bless those who were profoundly affected by those tornados. Boost Mobile / Sprint service no longer exists in this area now. I get no service in the majority of my home. If I stand by my window facing buffalo road I can get three bars. If I am in my room, which also faces buffalo road I can catch 3 bars, but I cannot move an inch or I will lose all signals and the call will be lost. Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you attempted to call Sprint or Boost Mobile. Boost Mobile has the worst customer service I have every experienced, hence the $60 dollar plan. Wow what a horrible sacrifice. I know Boost is on Sprints network, so if there are any Sprint customers who are experiencing this same problem please post any updates you may have. I finally got a live person with boost and they told me May 12th was the expected repair date and I called them on May 13th. I then went to a Sprint store and the guy told my there were 3 towers down and Sprint was aware of the problem. He also stated that the towers where scheduled to be back up by June 9th. Well it is now June 11th 2011 and I still have no service. I really don't care for paying for something that doesn't work. Boost has a great rate plan for BBs and it is what attracts me to them, but if this is not resolved very soon I will be switching providers. If anyone can help with updates it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and L.O.V.E.

Just cancelled my contract but had to go through BBB to do it. There is very poor signal strength in or near any structure. Worse, they will offer you an a signal booster (airave) to improve your signal strength, then charge you an activation fee and monthly fee despite the fact that it is their problem to begin with. If you live anywhere near this area I have received an admittance of problems with the towers in this area especially after the recent tornados. Also, regardless how genuine you are, there escalation department will ultimately tell you (as I was told) that I should have returned my phone within the allowed thirty day money-back guarantee and should have done my recent homework before I decided to go with Sprint. The reps words exactly. I felt the need to inform everyone because I don't want you to go through what I went through. I have Verizon and was very happy with the signal strength here in Raleigh. I could talk from anywhere in any place. It's worth the extra $25 per month!

My phones been horrible these last few weeks. Going from full signal to svc unavailable. Almost every call gets dropped within a minute or two. Also getting svc unavailable message a lot when I try to text. You would expect better service living right in a big city.

This is going to sound like a phone review for a while, so... just keep reading through. It's not a phone review. I'm on an older phone that worked wonders for me when I first got it a couple years back. I was excited maybe a year ago when I was able to upgrade to a new phone, so I went with the Samsung Exclaim. Sadly, that phone had poor signal, a terrible battery life, and was notorious for pocket dialing. I got a new phone, the LG Rumor Touch, which really wasn't much better for signal, so I relucantly went back to the Katana. For a while, it worked fine, though not as good as it used to work. Lately, though, it's been total garbage. I put below average because my phone seems to not know when it has signal or not. It very often switches back and forth between roaming and not roaming while I'm in the same area. This mostly happens at church, home, and school, the three places I'm at the most. It also likes to hover around 0 to 2 bars and it fluctuates between them very fast. I haven't really had many calling problems, but texting is horrible on it. I like texting on phones without keyboards, to be perfectly honest, so if my Katana would just work right, then I'd be fine. The problem is that it takes a ridiculously long time to be able to send text messages. I'm not sure if this counts as a phone-specific complaint or a service-specific complaint, so bear with me. I had full service while I was trying to send a text message to a friend about an assignment right before I started typing this comment. I believe I had to resend it 8 times, with full service at least a few of the times, for it to stop failing to send. I've been recieving messages 10 minutes later than they were sent, too. This mainly happens at Wake Tech, especially in my math class, elevators, and sometimes in my psychology class, and in my room at my house. I've generally got pretty decent service everywhere except for those two places, which are two of the places I spend the most time in. There are a few things leading me to believe that this is a network problem and not a phone problem. One, it's only in certain areas. Two, my current phone USED to have great all-around service. I'll hopefully switch back to the Rumor Touch soon to see if there's any difference. Three, this has been happening for a couple months now and it's gradually getting worse over time. Of course, that could also be to my phone deteriorating. Still, it's only recently that I've been having these problems. Four, the weather has been ridiculous. That can't be helped, but all this crazy NC weather probably isn't really helping people get better service. I really don't think it's my phone specifically, even with how old it is. It holds up fine in just about everything else. Simply put, if it's my phone that's messing up, then Sprint is pretty average and I'd be satisfied with a better phone. If it's not my phone, then Sprint needs to fix this problem.

Unlike other comments, I havent any problems with my Sprint service. I had a blackberry Curve until this year, and had no problems then. I now have the Evo. I live in Raleigh, right near Garner. I dont ever quite get 6 bars all the time.. It pretty much hovers between 4-5 bars. But no drop calls, no mumbled sound.. its nearly perfect.

Maybe 1 bar of signal strength in house and 2-3 outside. Can only use phone in certain spots in house (usually near a window). Calls are garbled even when signal strength is good and drop calls all the time. Had good reception up until about a year ago and it has been downhill ever since. Have gone back to a reliable land line and use cell phone minimally.

Dropped my Sprint service since they kept dropping my calls. Very poor service in and around Raleigh. You could literally drive down a hill in the middle of town and lose your connection or be on an interstate in the middle of the city and lose your connection. Stay away from this company. Verizon is much better.

reception at home is really bad. I cannot make calls out... but some calls can come in (?). But... . I live in "the black whole of all signals" and cannot get any kind of reception on anything. Other than at home, reception is good. I have dropped 3 calls every (in 3 years.) I am also taking classes at Wake Tech - and the signal there is dismal as well. over all I am happy--although I wouldn't give Sprint full marks.

I bought a great sounding package via a reseller to upgrade from Nextel to Sprint PCS. Sprint PCS a very small amount better. Approx 40% call drop and considerable R-link failures within the areas I want to use the service for. I am dropping back to Nextel even though they are just as bad if not worse. At least my current Nextel using customers can still contact my employees in the field most of the time. If my Nextel chirps I simly look at the caller and call back on a landline when I am in my office. What is up with coverage when I live on the border of both Cary and Raleigh?

I cannot get a signal at my house. I have dropped calls wherever I go in Raleigh, and on trips to East and West Tennessee, the coverage in Nashville (or a suburb north, White House) was dropped and not available as well, charged me roaming. Sprint is totally inadequate.
