Trinity Rd. / Edwards Mill, Raleigh, NC 27607 Thu Feb 16, 2012

Starting just this week, my phone has lost all bars and saps my phone battery by roaming all day when I'm at the office. Service comes back when I'm about a mile away from the office. Other Verizon users (not iPhone) in my office have no problems and other iPhone users (AT&T) have no problems. Perfect service at my home and anywhere else. Verizon can't figure out why there appears to be a hole in the network space-time continuum surrounding my desk-space.

Never really have any problems with Verizon's cell service. On a very rare occasion I'll drop a call, but it's probably once every few months. Verizon is pricey, but they really do have the best cell coverage.

0-1X -- typically no bars. Have to go outside my house, or drive.2 miles from home. My phone used to work fine everywhere -- always a weak signal at home, but functional. Still works on a strong signal (2 bars or more) away from home. (Have had numerous calls in to Tech Support, swapped out for refurbished phone, and new battery. No improvement!) Something changed recently - approx. June 2011. Now constantly get "Network not responding", "Searching for SVC" when trying to text or call out. Can sometimes receive texts, but calls are poor quality and usually drop. Cannot reach voice mail at all. If I did not have ATT land line, I would have no phone service.

HORRIBLE! Service used to be average. Way worse over the past six months with four different calls to technical support (dif't reasons for the poor service given every time). Lots of others in my neighborhood with open complaint tickets. The customer service reps DO NOT CARE that I can't even get a signal in my house most of the time. I'm going to get out of y contract because of the service.

Lead Mine / Saw Mill, Raleigh, NC 27615 Sun May 29, 2011

For the past 5-7 days I have had non-existent service, at best one bar. Standing outside I may get one bar, two at most. If I drive South on Lead Mine Rd, it takes about two miles before I can get reception. This has been a recent problem. The bigger problem is Verizon's useless support. Call from a land-line, I don't have a land-line. In the next day or so, I am changing phone carriers. This morning I was unable to make an emergency call! Verizon's so called upgrades have actually been downgrades.

When Verizon and Alltell took out some of the towers last week (May, 2011), reception in our neighborhood, particularly my street went to ZERO. We get NO reception in our house (have had perfect reception for years until last week when they took down the towers) and can barely get 1 bar standing on the sidewalk. If Verizon doesn't get this fixed, we will have to switch. Who wants a phone they can't use????

Not sure what is happening with the company. There are two towers within a mile. As of 1 April, I have max signal indoors and out. By 1 May, I had poor signal on two different telephone models of with verizon. Now we drop 2 of 3 telephone calls both indoors and out. I hope we do not need 911 as I have use Verizon as our only telephone for the last 7 years. I guess it is time to give up cellular telephones and go back to the good old reliable copper hardline connections. The Verizon help desk had to call me back 4 times in 30 minutes due to dropped calls. The tech even asked me for a land line (copper) number so we could "solve" the problem. HA!

Capital Blvd.at 540 zero service. Falls of Neuse over the Dam at Falls Lake zero service. Glenwood at Oberlin usually drops the call. Six Forks South approaching Millbrook has gone dead for years. Lassiter Mill Rd. towards White Oak maybe 25% of the time service. 440 outer near Hillsborough St. exit is really bad. Overall I find neighborhoods and roads in Raleigh that get zero service every day. It has been getting much worse over the past two years with 4 different phones.

Terrible coverage for Verizon throughout the majority of Raleigh. Considering the somewhat decent coverage in WNC you would think with Raleigh being the state capital they would invest more than the rural mountains. This is not the case. Literally 1 mile from downtown on a busy road BOTH phones switched to no service and then 'Extended Network' (most likely Alltel). Seriously, I dont understand how this happens. I had service the whole trip down though except for 2 or 3 spots (Asheville to Raleigh)

Verizon is #1 in dropped calls and apathetic customer service. I have been a Verizon customer for over 8 years. It was quite reliable until the past 2 years and especially awful for the past few months. I'm not exaggerating- over 50% of my calls are dropped. It's a several times daily occurrance. I'v contacted tech support who says they'll look into it but no one ever calls me back. When I call customer service (HA!) to follow up, Verizon keeps telling me that I'm probably dropping between towers but I work at home and am always in the same spot when the dropped calls take place. They have no explanation for this and claim they have no way to tell when calls are dropped. I'm very disappointed and now that my contract is up, I'm switching carriers. I don't know how it could possible get any worse.

TERRIBLE reception here..I ALWAYS drop calls, and I live in Falcon Ridge Townhomes and the reception there is absolutely terrible. I have to find a specific spot in which to talk on the phone, I don't get missed calls, and its just so bad. I don't know if its Verizon or not, but when I told them they didn't seem to care too much.

Forget the bars. Verizon service in this area is terrible. Verizon finally confessed that they have issues with the towers (crosstalk or some garbage). I have strong signal 4 to 5 bars but very broken conversations. It's not the phone. Other phones in the office from diferrent mfr. have the same crappy results. Verizon says thet may have the tower problem fixed one year...

My husband and I have LGs and Verizon, zero reception in most spots in the house. If we are so lucky to get a call in, it drop out in a few minutes. We've been told be Verizon it's just our phones (we had great reception in Morrisville) but our neighbor has Motorola and Verizon and same reception problems. I'm switching to Alltel, can't convince my husband because of his terrible experience with them. Too bad they are the only ones with towers in the area.

We moved to Raleigh about 6 months ago from Detroit and Boston where reception was always good, in fact, it is fairly decent anywhere I have traveled around the country, just horrible here. Conversations are always choppy, dropped calls are frequent and while it is a good phone it seems the poor reception draws down the battery all the time. When I travel, I may not have to charge it for days even though I am using it more because I can. Here, it is an embarassment to use it because of the constant asking people to repeat themselves or it just drops. Verizon says they will let me out of the contract because they can't seem to service this area or fix the towers. DON'T GET VERIZON IN RALEIGH!

Good reception outside of my condo, but poor in certain parts of the condo. I have to stand in one place near the window in order not to drop words and / or call. Not great reception in the Supermarket. My conclusion is cell phone services are not yet entirely reliable all the time. To replace a landline with it makes no sense to me at this time. After reading these comments about various carriers, it appears there are problems with all of them. Battery life on the phone leaves a lot to be desired. No wonder they can offer unlimited nights and weekend calling. If I'm using it inside I can only go as long as the battery power I may have. When that goes I can plug in the charger and what I have is a corded phone. So much for wireless! Of course I can always drive around the block in my car until morning with the cell phone using my adapter to take advantage of those unlimited minutes. Not very practicle! My take on cell phone carriers they lie just as cable companied did until service improved. Perhaps the day will come they don't have to lie anymore.

I have recently been dropping calls on a daily basis. I don't think it's so much "the network" in this case as it is my phone. I called Verizon the other day and asked what could be done about all the dropped calls, and the representative said that the phone I have "wasn't that great of a phone". "You sold it to me, your salesman said it was a good phone, and I paid $100 for it after a 2 year contract", I said. He then tells me that I can get a new phone next month (when my contract expires) but I have to extend my contract. He offered no compensation for my dropped calls, and the only advice I got was to get a new phone (big surprise) and update my roaming profile more often. Stay away from the LG VX7000. I can't speak for their other products, but I will not be buying another LG phone, and I will not be extending my contract with Verizon due to the slack customer service I received on this particular occasion.

I'm with Verizon which is good coverage most places I go. However, it is horrible in my home office. I drop every other call and rarely get through a call without it breaking up. I think the Blackberry is horrible because there is no external antenna. I'm ready to try something else. I love the email features but it's the worst phone I've had in terms of signal strength.

have had Verizon for 5 years, cannot recall the last time I dropped a call, had Sprint prior, very bad service, and reception, roomate has cingular, reception has gotten progressively worse. Remember the phone has as much to do with reception as anything, LG seems to have the most problems, prior phone LG 4400 great, probably a fluke, current Motorola very very good. Switched to Verizon about 2 months ago after being with AT&T for 5 years (loved them!) and not wanting to be forced to SunCom (who family members had already had HORRIBLE experiences with). Tried Cingular first, had very sporadic signal... would fluctuate wildly. I'd have no bars, then 3, then 1, then 2... never full signal. Cancelled during trial period and opted to go back to CDMA for the better coverage. Started with LG 6100, and it was okay, def better than Cingular. Had consistent 3 bars, but sound not great. Read GREAT reviews of new Motorola E815 so swapped that for the LG. WOW, what a difference. Same Verizon service, same address, 5 bars consistently all the time. RF and sound quality, NO dropped calls, and crystal clear audio. This one swap convinced me that it's true that it's not JUST the service that can make a difference. You need to have a good phone as well. So, lesson to self. Check reviews / rating on BOTH the provider AND the phone you plan to use. Makes all the difference. Phone aside, Verizon has been outstanding. Great customer service, billing has been correct from the get-go, and I have coverage everywhere I need it.

North Ridge area had pretty good reception a few months ago, now it is practically non-existent. Have been told by employees of Verizon that the towers are "... being worked on... " How long is this going to last? What good does it do to work from home if one must drive down the road a mile or two just to make a call? Should've stayed with a land line. Getting answers seems next to impossible.
