Great coverage all throughout Raleigh. I'm not sure how many towers Alltel has here but the signal is always full. I have absolutely no complaints with coverage and the plans seem good too with the My Circle promotion. I actually went in on a family plan with my fiance because family plans seem like an even better deal. There's not been a single building I've been in where I couldn't make a call. Very good signal and clear calls all over campus, at my apartment several miles away from campus, at Wal-Mart, at the mall, and hospital where I work part-time. Not even any problems on the outskirts of the city or traveling thoughout the area here that I've found. Just very good coverage all over the area here.

We moved to Raleigh about 6 months ago from Detroit and Boston where reception was always good, in fact, it is fairly decent anywhere I have traveled around the country, just horrible here. Conversations are always choppy, dropped calls are frequent and while it is a good phone it seems the poor reception draws down the battery all the time. When I travel, I may not have to charge it for days even though I am using it more because I can. Here, it is an embarassment to use it because of the constant asking people to repeat themselves or it just drops. Verizon says they will let me out of the contract because they can't seem to service this area or fix the towers. DON'T GET VERIZON IN RALEIGH!

Phones just barely work at our house. To just make a call there is maybe one place where it won't drop the call. Verizon is miserable in this area.

Good reception outside of my condo, but poor in certain parts of the condo. I have to stand in one place near the window in order not to drop words and / or call. Not great reception in the Supermarket. My conclusion is cell phone services are not yet entirely reliable all the time. To replace a landline with it makes no sense to me at this time. After reading these comments about various carriers, it appears there are problems with all of them. Battery life on the phone leaves a lot to be desired. No wonder they can offer unlimited nights and weekend calling. If I'm using it inside I can only go as long as the battery power I may have. When that goes I can plug in the charger and what I have is a corded phone. So much for wireless! Of course I can always drive around the block in my car until morning with the cell phone using my adapter to take advantage of those unlimited minutes. Not very practicle! My take on cell phone carriers they lie just as cable companied did until service improved. Perhaps the day will come they don't have to lie anymore.

Most of the time, driving through this major intersection downtown, my signal drops out. Call is dropped. This has happened with two phones (3125 and Nokia 6620), and I am not sure why. Not exactly rural.

I have recently been dropping calls on a daily basis. I don't think it's so much "the network" in this case as it is my phone. I called Verizon the other day and asked what could be done about all the dropped calls, and the representative said that the phone I have "wasn't that great of a phone". "You sold it to me, your salesman said it was a good phone, and I paid $100 for it after a 2 year contract", I said. He then tells me that I can get a new phone next month (when my contract expires) but I have to extend my contract. He offered no compensation for my dropped calls, and the only advice I got was to get a new phone (big surprise) and update my roaming profile more often. Stay away from the LG VX7000. I can't speak for their other products, but I will not be buying another LG phone, and I will not be extending my contract with Verizon due to the slack customer service I received on this particular occasion.

Constantly drop calls in both areas. Horrible Nextel service in almost all of North Raleigh. Radio service is better than phone service but still hit or miss. I have 4 or 5 dropped calls a DAY! If I didn't need radio service, wouldn't have a Nextel and live in N. Raleigh.

Actually NO reception inside my home or inside buildings at Wake Tech where I work. I can get a call out in high spots on the highway. My husband has the Nokia that came free with the plan and he most always gets a signal. My daughter has Verizon and her phone works very well (but it is newer).

I've had the same phone for years and the same carrier. I must be awash in electromagnetic radiation because I always receive excellent reception in my apartment. So pretty satisfied with Verizon here.

reception at home is really bad. I cannot make calls out... but some calls can come in (?). But... . I live in "the black whole of all signals" and cannot get any kind of reception on anything. Other than at home, reception is good. I have dropped 3 calls every (in 3 years.) I am also taking classes at Wake Tech - and the signal there is dismal as well. over all I am happy--although I wouldn't give Sprint full marks.
