Wow! I am really blown away. My contract came up and I was about to re-sign with Cingular but I thought I'd scan the internet for reviews on Sanford. Well, I found this site, checked out Alltel and it really is the difference between night an day. Cingular wasn't bad but Alltel has signal Everywhere. It's so much better and the prices are better too. Alltel just offers so much more. In this area Alltel is by far the best provider based on my experience.

Alltel has been my carrier for 4 years now, after switching from Cingular wireless which SUCKED! To Alltel it was difference of Night and Day. I get service from the elevators at school to the tops of buildings. I have never been dissapointed by Alltel, from the administrative part down to the tech support everything has been superb. I travel from Sanford to Raleigh and back everyday occassionally to Charlotte and over to Greenville. All through my drive i'm on the phone with my wife, and never have I had a dropped call. I also travel to the mountains with my company and never have I had a dropped call in the pits of the valley to the tips of the mountains. One of my co-workers has a Sprint phone and 85% of the time has to use my phone for company calls or personal phone calls. With Alltel's data services, like the EVDO and the wireless card provided with the service it works excellent. Be cautious with the negative comments on the Alltel service. Many people do not update their phone's software and PRL. How does the phone konw how to pick up a tower that is standing right in front of it, if it doesn't konw it's there? Thats why you update the phone to tell it where the latest towers are. Everyone who lives in at least the Raleigh, Southern Pines, Fayetville, Chapel Hill should consider Alltel if your current provider isn't satisfying you. It's very reasonable for the plans, and the coverage is excellent. In the past 4 years travel to Hawaii, Florida, Texas, and Pennsylvania / Ohio the service is excellent in even the most rural areas.

Satisfied with Alltel. Good clear reception between Sanford and Raleigh except just north of Deep River in a low area.

Complete Dead Zone. Some other cell phone providers seem to work fine. Numerous areas that have no reception. Check with Verizon or any other service.

Poor reception, a lot of dropped calls, unable to send text messages at times, can not get past 1 bar, two trouble tickets submitted to engineers which they are quick to close, they tell me someone will call which they never do, I just receive text messages informing me that ticket has been closed with no explanation, will definitely be switching to Verizon, all time I was wondering why I was the only AT&T customer in my subdivision, now I know.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Sanford NC finally has AT&T 3G service! It's about damn time. I was so excited to look down at my phone sometime after 5:30 pm on December 15, 2010 and see the "3G" button lit on my phone! Now I feel like I can use my phone the way it was designed for and enjoy surfing the web and watching YouTube® and download music and watch Netflix® etc... ... I'm so glad the wait is over. Now I just hope Pinehurst NC, which is where I live, is not to far behind. Thanks AT&T!

I have had Cingular service for almost 3 years. Service has been better in the last year since Cingular and AT&T have merged more of their towers together. I have good to excellent service in most areas. My father-in-law has Sun Com and his phone can not make or receive a call at my house inside or out. Sad thing for him is at his own house he has the same problem. His house is near the intersection of HWY 1 and 15-501. A major trafic route and he can not even get a call in his own house. Now that stinks. I do wish to say that I often travel up HWY 42 to Asheboro to the zoo and two miles from my house untill almost the Ashboro City limits I have absolutely NO signal. So Cingular has some problems in their coverage in rural areas. A friend of mine has US Celular and he has a signal almost every where. His phone is ugly as sin but he has a signal. Hope this helps.

I live near US1 Exit #70 (North Sanford). Reception is terrible by my house, I have to go outside to get even 2 of 6 bars. Horner / 421 offers really good reception (the new downtown). I've discovered that around miles 75-78 along US 1 are a poor reception area, I drop my calls most of the time thru there. Up in the Raleigh / Cary area I have found reception to be nearly flawless.

I have AT&T / Cingular / Suncom, but most of the time as of late I use something called USA 490 (which I don't even know what that means). I am looking for a new phone that I can get reception at my house and a carrier with a good reputation and a "cheap" plan!
