I've had this CDMA phone through Alltel for many years because it was the only service at the time that genuinely worked well in rural areas (frequently in Analog only). I got it primarily so that it would work near Spear, Spruce Pine, Newland but also in rural Union County where I visit frequently. When Alltell dropped Analog, I started having trouble but still could get 3-4 bars in the house. Then they improved their Digital service and worked very well for about a year or 2. Now that Alltell is Verizon, signal is very weak and I have to walk down the driveway to the main road to get 1 or 2 bars. I am now considering dropping it altogether. I am curious if prepaid GSM phones will work in that area? i.e. Net10 which supposedly works with Verizon. Net10 does also sell CDMA phones. I'd love to get some comments on which of those works in that area.
