Rarely drop below to bars anywhere in town. I never hardly get full but mostly 3 to 4 bars. always have 3g service with no problems. never had any calls dropped. but very upset there's no 4 g service in our area yet. therefore having a 4 g phone is useless.

No issues along Myrtle Grove Rd. and Masonboro Loop Rd. Area around Greenville Loop Rd. / Pine Grove Rd. intersection is bad though. Mostly great in Wilmington. Makes sense since Alltel had awesome regional coverage, then Verizon bought them out.

I have had Sprint for several years and have been happy. Lately there is a problem in this Area. dropping calls like crazy. Sprint can't tell when its gonna be fixed. I'm not too happy about that. tower issues.

Signal here goes from 5 bars to zero in a matter of seconds or practically every time that you dial. Recently the service around the remainder of the town is also extremely bad. I know that AT&T have been changing their patterns in this area over the last 12 months. They really need to publish a more accurate and true map of their coverage.

I had T -Mobile but got released because their service was terrible,ie. dropped calls, couldn't receive or send calls from within my stick built house.I now have AT&T service and its also terrible.Only had this service 2 weeks. In house I get dropped calls, zero bars.Have to go outside on porch to get 1 bar. They will not admit service is terrible, they say lack of towers and others in area being worked on.Will not provide booster antennia to me free of charge. They tell me a booster will cost me $149.00.I asked for a free booster antennia and they said no.I said I pay them $120.00 a month for this service that doesn't work.I asked them will they provide a credit when my service doesn't work. They said no.The only thing they keep on telling me is that I have 30 days to get out of the contract. If I go beyond 30 days they say that I will have accepted this service as is.They also told me that AT&T does not garantee cell phones to work inside building.I have had cell phones services for about 15 years and they used to always work inside my home.My wife and I decided today to cancel our contract with AT&T and just rely on our house phone like we used to do.

Very poor reception in and out of my home. I've talked to AT&T but only got the response that they are striving to place more towers "sometime" this year. I can't even get them to give me a microcell to keep my service. Gues that means I'll jump ship when wife's contract is up.

Frequent dropped calls or no service indoors at home. I have to stand on the porch or by a window. My job requires Nextel, or else I would have US Cellular and enjoy seamles coverage in this area

Strangely Verizon seems to have bad to no 3G coverage in downtown Wilmington NC, but excellent in the surrounding area despite what coverage maps indicate. West of about 16th street data is almost unusable. Seems very odd. Voice remains OK but with a Droid thats like cutting off a leg.

Really never had a problem with us cellular service. If you just want a cell phone then this service is quite good. Moving to att / verizon or Sprint here shortly to pickup internet. Looks like Verizon is a bit spotty so I might go with att.

Great reception with Alltel. Terrible reception with Verizon. Verizon tried to switch back to Alltel towers and still terrible reception. After run-arounds, they admitted the service is no good and offered to let me out of my contract. I loved Alltel for years, but now... ... Thanks Verizon for screwing up Wilmington. I wish you would spend money on service instead of advertising how great you are.

We just moved to Wilmington and get horrible reception with AT&T. If I'm lucky, I can get a few bars if I stand in the street. Don't expect AT&T to let you out of a contract because the service is weak. With AT&T, it's all about the money and not at all about good customer service!

We live way out in northern NHCo, off Sidbury Road. Many times people come to visit and have to go outside to get a signal on their phones. But we have had US Cellular for the past 6 years, and always get at least one bar inside the house, enough to make and receive calls. If we go outside, reception is better - usually 2 or 3 bars. In my downtown brick bunker office with no windows, I have 6 bars right now. I have never found a dead spot, ever, anywhere in town. I think in the past 6 years I've only had 1 or 2 dropped calls, but I'm not a constant phone talker. I've been very happy with US Cellular's coverage in Wilmington NC.

I get amazing service everywhere in Wilmington. The only spotty area outside of Wilmington is on the south end of Carolina Beach, but since I can roam for free I just pick up on one of the analog signals. This works great, the only thing that suffers are my data speeds as I am roaming and not on the Sprint Nextel network. Whether I am in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Greenville, or surrounding areas I have zero complaints. The only place I have been with VERY little coverage is in Duplin County. Obviously there are dead spots on all carriers, but since Sprints foots the bill for me to roam in those few instances, I am a lifer with this company. I have weathered the storm through the merger, and still prefer Sprint over the other pricy and less dependable carriers. I hope all the Alltel customers are prepared for the big VERIZON take over... watch you monthly bills start climbing, and just wait till you need a new phone!

Marsh Hen Dr., Wilmington, NC 28409 Tue Oct 16, 2007

I'm at the very end of Marsh Hen Drive, and have very poor Verizon signal inside the home. It often picks up what is likely an Alltel antenna. Verizon says there'll be no new towers in our area and even offered to terminate the contract if I wished to switch to another carrier, but no others usually work here either. Ah, well. Forget about mobile phone at home, I guess!
