Signal here goes from 5 bars to zero in a matter of seconds or practically every time that you dial. Recently the service around the remainder of the town is also extremely bad. I know that AT&T have been changing their patterns in this area over the last 12 months. They really need to publish a more accurate and true map of their coverage.

I had T -Mobile but got released because their service was terrible,ie. dropped calls, couldn't receive or send calls from within my stick built house.I now have AT&T service and its also terrible.Only had this service 2 weeks. In house I get dropped calls, zero bars.Have to go outside on porch to get 1 bar. They will not admit service is terrible, they say lack of towers and others in area being worked on.Will not provide booster antennia to me free of charge. They tell me a booster will cost me $149.00.I asked for a free booster antennia and they said no.I said I pay them $120.00 a month for this service that doesn't work.I asked them will they provide a credit when my service doesn't work. They said no.The only thing they keep on telling me is that I have 30 days to get out of the contract. If I go beyond 30 days they say that I will have accepted this service as is.They also told me that AT&T does not garantee cell phones to work inside building.I have had cell phones services for about 15 years and they used to always work inside my home.My wife and I decided today to cancel our contract with AT&T and just rely on our house phone like we used to do.

Very poor reception in and out of my home. I've talked to AT&T but only got the response that they are striving to place more towers "sometime" this year. I can't even get them to give me a microcell to keep my service. Gues that means I'll jump ship when wife's contract is up.

We just moved to Wilmington and get horrible reception with AT&T. If I'm lucky, I can get a few bars if I stand in the street. Don't expect AT&T to let you out of a contract because the service is weak. With AT&T, it's all about the money and not at all about good customer service!

Had Motorola V220 flip phone for last two years. Got only 1-2 bars on a good day and 0-1 bar on a bad (rainy) day. Recently got RAZR V3 phone and seem to routinely get 2-3 bars on a good day and 1-2 bars on a bad day. I have noticed that whenever I make a call on the RAZR phone the signal bars suddently jump up to 5 bars and just stay there for the duration of the call. I find the 5 bars hard to believe. Has anyone else seen this effect with the RAZR phones? Motorola and Cingular tell me that they have never heard of such an effect.

Get 0 to 2 bars in house. Can walk out to drive way and get 1-2 bars. Can go 300 yards up street toward Myrtle Grove Rd. and get 3-4 bars. In marina, right off ICW, I can get 3-5 bars. Cell towers are no more than a mile away --- at least 2 of them!

I've had good reception with Cingular around Wilmington in one year of living here using Motorola V551. I tried an Audiovox SMT5600 for a short time and it did not get good reception so I think the phone has a lot to do with reception quality as much as the provider.

I normally get good reception around most of Wilmington. Around my apartment, however, my signal will suddenly disappear if i'm on the phone more than 10 minutes or so... sometimes. I might just be in the crosshairs of some signal congestion or something though. I would definitely recommend Cingular for anyone using around the UNCW area and i've never had any problems anwywhere else in Wilmington.

I am sad to say I suckered myself into Cingular. I left US Cellular after 1 1 / 2 years and have regretted it for the past year of Cingular. I never had dropped calls on USCC. I had Verizon before moving to Wilmington, and even their extended network rocked. As soon as I can, I will be leaving Cingular for something more useful. If I wanted a high-tech paperweight, I would have bought a clock.

I've had Cingular service now for about 5 years. The coverage has degraded if anything. I live in a urban area and should have any problem getting coverage. I started working for Verizon and got a phone through the employee program and I get better coverage on their extended network than I do cingular's home network.

Cingular Service is frequently lost while traveling I-95 and I-40. Reception is poor within any building. I switched from a Motorola v60 to the Sony Ericsson T610 just to have reception inside my house. Cingular is generally a poor service provider.
