I get reception on the main level but when I'm in the basement I don't get any service. I think they should add a cell tower in the area of zipcode 68105.

We have had poor reception since July. We often can't use our cell phones inside the building at 102nd and Maple. If we go outside, we have to walk around to find an area where reception actually works a bit. Often when using the phone at work or at home (129th and Center) the conversations are garbled or every few words are lost or the call is dropped completely. Calls to Verizon have finally been met with agreement that there is a problem but a fix date is undetermined. So we get partial service but are expected to pay for full service. We are looking to switch.

I have been with AT&T / Cingular for over 5 years now and live in south Omaha I have never had a problem getting reception in the house, basement or anywhere for that fact. I travel daily to Fremont and Lincoln and still great service.

I have had Alltel / Verizon for 20+ years. Just a few months ago my boyfriend and I started having some issues with the connection. We both have Verizon now. When at home or even in my neighborhood calls break up and sometimes even drop. I also found out that when I am home, sometimes my signal is so weak that my phone doesn't even ring. I didn't complain right away, however, when I received a note in mail from Verizon stating that my signal is even stronger now I had had it and contacted the company. At first, they told me that I would need to purchase extra items for a stronger connection. I told them that was not acceptable and they have dropped that. Since then I have called them three to four more times, and spent about two to three hours opening and reopening tickets and trying different things to fix this issue. The last time I talked to them they said that they had made the signal stronger in my neighborhood and that I just needed to dial *228 or something to fix it. I did this and NOTHING changed. I need to call them back and reopen the ticket... I just dreading it though... They did say once that if necessary they would let me out of my contract, however, being with the company for so long, I would prefer that they just fixed the problem.

Verizon confirmed just now on the phone that I am in a low signal area. I read on another post that Verizon must let you out of the contract with no early termination fee. I also read that Sprint is not a lot better. My New Every Two is due this month, so I could switch if I wanted to... Now what?

I'm freaking am tired of AT&T's sucky, cheap, pathetic signal. I want to get rid of them so bad because I know Version Wireless or Sprint will do the job for retaining signal in the 68111 area. I am not the only one with the issue because all my friends with AT&T agree with me that the signal is pathetic. They need to amp up the towers strength or something because its not just my phone, I have a whole set of kids who agree with me at school that AT&T is jacked up if they can get reception with the other major wireless carriers. Also, the amount of drop calls are just another piece of work from AT&T. Yeah, AT&T says they cover 97% of Americans, but they do it with a reception of 1 or 0 bars with the letter E reception instead of 3G coverage! Even outside of buildings It still isn't solved! Lesson to be learned: AT&T sucks, get the other carriers for Omaha for your own good!

Verizon has very good coverage throughout Omaha. I am a person who updates my PRL about every 60-90 days. Updating your PRL is very important so you get sufficient coverage. This gives your phone the most recent information on towers and coverage. to update your PRL call *228 and select option two. your phone may restart when finished if update is successful. Also, before traveling out of town, make sure you update your phones roaming capabillities (PRL) by again calling *228 and selecting option two.

There was terrible ATT signal until mid-Aug 2010. The number of bars would vary from 2 (Rarely) to 0 (most of the time. From mid-Aug2010, I have been getting full signal (all bars full).

Recently changed from Storm 1 to Storm 2 while I was in Denver since Storm 1 battery was fat in the middle and not giving me service for the day. Came back to Omaha, I am having a ton of dropped calls each day at 168th and Q and some dropped calls as I move around town. The Storm 1 was just fine. Verizon is trying to help. They are currently doing a Hi-Bred PRL push to the phone that will take 24 hours. Helps with the Perferred Roaming List. Another Verizon user had that done in the Fremont area and it really helped their 2 Verizon Cell phones. We will see if service gets better on the Storm 2. If anyone else is having reception problems on the Storm 2, please let us know.

I recently moved from Cathedral area to 96th and Blondo area. I have terrible coverage within my townhome and on streets nearby. Though the support person from Verizon was very helpful, even sending me an email with instructions for trouble shooting, it was to no avail. Trying to get technical help from the service center at 74th and Dodge is impossible, unless you want to spend 30-45 minutes waiting! Does anyone have suggestions for a better carrier? My contract is up August 13th and I would sure like to be able to receive and make calls from my home!

I am SO frustrated with Verizon coverage in midtown. It is a daily annoyance. I have dropped calls in my home office, and driving around town every single day. When I send texts, I frequently get, "Would you like to send when service is available?" I just found out today that every time I clicked Yes it sends it again, which is annoying to recipients. Sometimes when I am listening to voice-mail, I get, "If you'd like to make a call... " although I was connected and listening to messages for a few minutes successfully. WEIRD stuff. I am ashamed to be paying more than anyone else for this horrific service, plus I now acknowledge it's affecting my business at this point. I am shopping for a new provider today. PS- I was with Alltel / ancestors since 1992; since Verizon I have been frustrated but in denial until now.

it kills me to return this phone. lucky to get one bar in my home. no service at all in my basement, but family with vz and Sprint phones have no problems at all when they come over. even with one bar calls cut out and break up... . how bad is your network? the best phone on the worst network. there is a reason AT&T pays apple the premium for the phone rights. they have to hide there flaws...

I've had US Cellular for over 4 years and was a Blackberry fan for 3 of those years. However, when we moved to the South side of town, our reception went down the toilet. I am now unable to sit in my living room and make calls, text, anything. After being shown a coverage map by a US Cellular employee, I realized that we are in the middle of a 'sketchy' area of coverage. Bummer! We've been there for 2 years, and my signal just kept getting worse. So far, I have changed out the battery on my Tour, uploaded the new software package and added the new tower list... all to no avail. After talking with US Cellular, they said that it may just be my phone (which I knew was not the case as our other Blackberry has the same issues) so they gave me a Blackberry Curve to try instead. Same problems. Again I went to the US Cellular office and am now trying an HTC Touch Pro. So far the signal strength is better, not fantastic, but better. I do have to say, that thru all of my complaining and frustration, US Cellular has been working hard and doing all that they can to solve my troubles without the need to change services. I appreciate all that they have done, and hope that we are able to fix this trouble... I really don't want to have to find another carrier! Here's to hoping that the HTC fixes the trouble!

Five bars of 3G service with speeds exceeding 3Mbps, even in my basement. AT&T is rock-solid around 72nd and Military / 72nd and Ames. Can't say the same about GSM coverage in all of the Omaha area; the southwest metro area has some major coverage issues. Very solid here in the north-central metro though.

I had Sprint from 2002 until April 2008. Their coverage is horrible when you leave the Omaha metro area. If you're not in town or on I80 or I29, you'll be lucky to get a signal. I even had to go upstairs in my house to get a signal on my Sprint phone. My wife has had Alltel since I met her seven years ago. She has always had good to great reception. I switched to Alltel (now Verizon Nov 2009) and never looked back in April 2008. We travel to her childhood home in northwest Iowa and to her hometown of Sioux Falls. We travel to the Black Hills every year and have no problems with reception. I can even place and receive calls in the Badlands! Also, I storm chase on the central and northern Plains with a Verizon data card. I rarely have problems downloading real-time weather data from Allison House. It gets a little spotty in northwest Kansas, but reconnects within a minute. To those few who gave a 0 or 1 for Verizon in the Omaha metro area, I have no idea what you're talking about. I drive ALL OVER Omaha fixing people's computers and never have a problem receiving customer's calls.

T-Mobile in the Omaha area is craptastic. Ususally no signal... and a very weak signal will fade in and out at times.

I generally got no reception indoors. If I did the cell phone dance and waited for a bit, I could usually get enough signal to make a call. On the upside, once I found enough signal to let me make a call the call didn't get dropped even if the phone would say no signal when I was done. Outside in the area I'm guessing is facing the tower I generally got enough service to make calls, but it was iffy. T-mobile's coverage map says you get "Good" coverage here. I would not call this good coverage, although it is accurate by their description of good. "You will likely be able to place calls outdoors, in a car, and occasionally indoors." That's still not good enough for me. Looks like I will have to switch to Verizon like everyone else.

I have been scratching my heads over this. I used to have spotty converage with this pre-paid T-Mobile that I brought with me from Seattle (425 area code). For last few months I have been taking this phone to 68144, 68182, 68127 areas and haven't seen one blip of the signal. I thought my cell phone was dead so tried other (unlocked) cell phones but no go. Oh, well, I guess T-Mobile doesn't work in Omaha... AT&T has decent coverage (my other phone) but looking for something better.

This is the worst service I have ever had. I would be better off using a shortwave radio. I have not been able to complete a phone call in over a year while sitting in my home. It may take two minutes, it may take ten - but your call WILL get dropped. My wife has an iPhone 3G as well, and has the same problems. We are selling our phones, and switching to another carrier due to the terrible network.
