Sprint
Reception is excellent, phone calls are great. Data service is utterly UNUSABLE. I frequently see sub-dialup speeds and multi-thousand ms ping rates, and even the best speeds I've gotten in the past 6 months are 40-50 times slower than Verizon!

AT&T
I have been with AT&T / Cingular for over 5 years now and live in south Omaha I have never had a problem getting reception in the house, basement or anywhere for that fact. I travel daily to Fremont and Lincoln and still great service.

AT&T
Five bars of 3G service with speeds exceeding 3Mbps, even in my basement. AT&T is rock-solid around 72nd and Military / 72nd and Ames. Can't say the same about GSM coverage in all of the Omaha area; the southwest metro area has some major coverage issues. Very solid here in the north-central metro though.

Verizon
I had Sprint from 2002 until April 2008. Their coverage is horrible when you leave the Omaha metro area. If you're not in town or on I80 or I29, you'll be lucky to get a signal. I even had to go upstairs in my house to get a signal on my Sprint phone. My wife has had Alltel since I met her seven years ago. She has always had good to great reception. I switched to Alltel (now Verizon Nov 2009) and never looked back in April 2008. We travel to her childhood home in northwest Iowa and to her hometown of Sioux Falls. We travel to the Black Hills every year and have no problems with reception. I can even place and receive calls in the Badlands! Also, I storm chase on the central and northern Plains with a Verizon data card. I rarely have problems downloading real-time weather data from Allison House. It gets a little spotty in northwest Kansas, but reconnects within a minute. To those few who gave a 0 or 1 for Verizon in the Omaha metro area, I have no idea what you're talking about. I drive ALL OVER Omaha fixing people's computers and never have a problem receiving customer's calls.

Nextel
Perfect service from oak view area and in general around town. Using boost mobile actually. Its really rather good reception. No dropped calls in a month ( or maybe one ) which was completely different than my experience with AT&T

US Cellular
Reception is 4-5 bars most of the time. Even when I'm right next to a tower (US Cell told me where the towers were in my home area), it won't get full service, which is weird. But when I leave my home area it roams on verizon, which is the best partner to have. And if there's no Verizon available, it roams on alltel. Great roaming coverage for occasional trips.

AT&T
Perfect reception, and I'm even in a basement apartment! There is a tower right across Dodge street. In fact, every carrier works here EXCEPT sprint. Go figure. The big complaint I have about AT&T though is that they are seemingly lying to everyone about their rollout of 3G service in Omaha. It was supposed to be here a year ago! What is going on?

Can't remember a dropped call. Even in the basement I always get 3 bars and EVDO.

Sprint
Had Sprint for 4 years in Omaha, and never had any major issues. I would highly recommend it. Makes AT&T look like a joke.

AT&T
I have had the same ATT phone number for 4 or 5 years since living in California and get great reception in all areas of Omaha I got to including Old Market, midtown, 50th and Q, waaaaay out west, etc. The only place it's not good is if I go to Iowa around Crescent. I wonder why so many people are having such poor coverage? I have an out of state area code, but I don't know why that would make a difference.

Verizon
Verizon has excellent reception in and around Omaha North High School. Could be because there is a tower on the back of the school. Citywide, I haven't dropped a call yet. I'm sure Verizon has dead spots but, it has the best coverage in Nebraska. I've used AT&T and reception was awful. I love the iPhone but, I'm staying with my LG Chocolate, which is on Verizon.

US Cellular
I absolutley love U.S. Cellular I have great signal with them. Not only that they were nice enough to help me program my phone and everything. They went out of their way to make sure I was happy.

Verizon
I have always had excellent reception on my phone in Omaha over the past 3.5 years. Can't remember the last time I had a call drop, and I travel quite a bit.

Sprint
Sprint is awesome in Omaha, great coverage throughout the city and the I80 corridor, good support from the 72nd and Dodge Office. A bit spotty and roaming when you head west to Fremont.

Verizon
Switched from Virgin Mobile with the Kyocera Slider phone to Verizon and the Motorola v276. A VAST improvement. What a joy to actually get reception bars in my own home! I specifically avoided Sprint / Nextel because Virgin Mobile used some of their towers for service, and I literally got no bars in my house. Other friends with Sprint have smae complaints of 'dead zones'. So far, very pleased with Verizon and my Motorola.

Sprint
Great reception with Sprint in NorthWest Omaha. I get service in any buildings, in my basement, and have tried it as far out as Elkhorn and Waterloo with no issues at all.

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
I've only run across two no-service areas: elevators and public, metal-enclosed restrooms. :o

Verizon
I never have problems with dropped calls in my neighborhood or anywhere in the city. I've been an Alltel / Verizon customer over 10 years. This may be due to me frequently updating my programming, [*228, option 2] or just always being covered well wherever I am. Even out of town I don't have problems. If a call does drop, it's always during a call with my Sprint friend's and it's their phones because they have low coverage where they are located. Only thing I have a problem with is not finding a cheaper plan. :)

AT&T
I've had AT&T for the past 2+ years and have had some problems in the beginning with dropped calls, poor service, etc., but things are better and I haven't had these problems since except for the occasional instance where they were probably working on their network. My only real complaint about AT&T and some of the other carriers, such as Verizon, are they expense attached with them (my current bill is about $99 / month). I came to this site looking for alternate, less expensive providers and think I will give their GoPhone plan a try.

Sprint
So far no problems, no dropped calls, the worst calls experience some randomness in the volume, most calls are clear, calling other iphones or high end smartphones usually sounds like there is a studio linked between you and them. 3g is a little slower than my friends on expensive carriers, but usually 80% as fast. Reasonable 3g coverage in anything that resembles a small town.

Verizon
Verizon has very good coverage throughout Omaha. I am a person who updates my PRL about every 60-90 days. Updating your PRL is very important so you get sufficient coverage. This gives your phone the most recent information on towers and coverage. to update your PRL call *228 and select option two. your phone may restart when finished if update is successful. Also, before traveling out of town, make sure you update your phones roaming capabillities (PRL) by again calling *228 and selecting option two.

AT&T
There was terrible ATT signal until mid-Aug 2010. The number of bars would vary from 2 (Rarely) to 0 (most of the time. From mid-Aug2010, I have been getting full signal (all bars full).

Sprint
Sprint usually delivers good reception throughout Omaha. The issues with Sprint are their lack of quality phones. Every cool phone on the market (iphone, blackberry bold, blackberry storm, etc) is not available on the Sprint network. The only decent phones they do have, they usually get them months or years afters carriers like AT&T and Verizon have had them. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE! As a customer I should not have to accept that my carrier, that I pay good money to, refuses to spend the money necessary to get the rights to the top end phones. This is the main reason that Sprint is losing thousands of customers every month. They have yet to understand that they can have the good reception and cheap rates, but with no quality phones people are going to leave. Step up Sprint, or get ready to file for bankruptcy.
