Reception okay in yard. Inside house I must go to exterior window to have signal. Husband with flip phone fares better. He can talk on phone anywhere in the house. Reception very poor as one travels Shaker Road: frequent dropped calls. poor reception when phone is in service. Again, husband's flip cell phone fares better.

Reception is spotty for AT&T in Laconia along Rt 106 in this area. I just switched from Verizon and AT&T lacks much of the coverage I was receiving with them in NH.

From home, dropped calls and single-ended connections (i.e. you can hear the other person, but they can't hear you) are very, very common. From Rte. 106 to just before Shaker Village, connections are somewhat stable (2-3 bars). After the village, expect dropped calls at any bend of the road. Considering cost / performance comparison with GSM service experienced in Europe (espec. Germany), it seems like we are paying premium US dollars to get third-world type service (no offense to third-world countries). Definitely not satisfactory for a so-called "technologically advanced" country like the US, and for the price(s) charged.

Since my comment on Feb 8 about no signal with my Safelink Wireless Tracfone, Tracfone finally gave me an AT&T SIMM card, so I'm on AT&T's network rather than T-Mobile's. I've have good reception in Penacook and Boscawen ever since. But I'm in the process of moving to CANTERBURY right next to the school and across the street from the Municipal Building. DEAD ZONE! My Safelink Wireless Tracfone has absolutely NO service even with the AT&T SIMM. A US Cellular Motorola Razer3 shows one bar and will make a call back to Penacook, but it uses a lot of battery charge and is showing as roaming. I guess I can look forward to many more hours on the telephone with Safelink and Tracfone trying to get service in Canterbury. With all the obscenely wealthy people in this town, you'd think we could afford a cell tower :o)
