About 2 yrs ago the ATT towers were ugraded to 3G vs edge and 3G coverage has a longer coverage reach. So my phone on Ash Swamp went from 0-1 bar on edge to 4+ on 3G. The pathethetic part is that Downtown is stil a zero coverage zone and I called ATT and still no plans to fix it.

Had no signal in the house until late 2009 and then one day had five bars, and that's how it's stayed. But... NO AT&T service in downtown Newmarket.

Poor reception from T-mobile. I am on a Pre-paid plan and want to shift some other carrier. I hardly get one bar on my phone. Some T-Mobile kiosk people say, post paid is better. But, I asked the T-Mobile store people in Portsmouth, they say prepaid and post paid coverage for T-Mobile is same.

I have T-Mobile and I get perfect reception in Newmarket. It's actually funny to see all of these comments. I had no reception at my girlfriend's house in East Kingston... NONE. She has Verizon so she got reception out there, but when we moved her signal slowly faded away and the signal on my phone got stronger. There's no 3G for T-Mobile in NH but the EDGE network is quick enough for me in the house. If you want / have to stay with your current cell phone provider, add the wi-fi option to your phone plan. Your cell phone will get full service and you can use it as your house phone without using your minutes! Good luck everyone!

Newmarket is a black hole for cell phone coverage. I can only get 1 bar if I'm lucky, and it's fleeting. I'm lucky if I can send a text.

Recently read the Planning Board minutes from the Newmarket website. There were AT&T antennas on the water tower on Great Hill THAT WERE NEVER LIT. AT&T was paying a lease to the town (until recently) but never turned the antennas on. Verizon Wireless was granted access to remove those antennas and replace them with theirs. Hopefully this will improve service for Verizon around town. I have e-mailed the town planner to confirm that Verizon is proceeding as planned. We'll be switching if that's the case!

I rarely get reception in my house and when I do, it's spotty. Even standing outside, I don't get more than 1 bar. Wish a carrier would decide to support this area, so I could get text messaging at the very least. As a computer systems administrator, I need to get text messages letting me know of server trouble.

Next to no reception in or outside of my apartment. Dropped calls when I HAVE to use my phone in this area. Phone will alert me of messages hours later. Constantly charging my battery. Never had this issue prior to moving to Newmarket. :(

Sprint stinks! The lack of reception is maddening! Boo!

Ash Swamp heading west from Rt 108 to Rt 152. Service quickly degrades from 1-2 bars to zero - 1 after Grant. There are two area Towers; one in Newfields Rt 85 near RR Bridge and one behind Newmarket DPW on Rt 152. If either of these towers were used it would greatly improve service. But Sprint has shown no interest to my repeated email blasts. Plan is up in April, time for a new provider and deal.

Newmarket is known as the "Black Hole" for cell phones!

No reception at all in my apartment. Sometimes I can get 1 bar in the parking lot, but the call is very broken up and usually gets dropped.

Poor to Zero in the SW corner of Newmarket / Newfields line I can't understand it as there are two overlapping towers in the area SBE and national grid but Sprint is't interested in improving service

If I'm lucky, I'll get one bar of reception every ~2-3 hours and my phone will notify me of voicemail / text messages. No luck getting the signal to hang on long enough to retrieve voice mail. No service in apt (near above intersection) or downtown Newmarket. When I brought this up to Verizon in-store personnel they blamed the shoddy service on "lots of granite in the area" - I thought this was the Granite State? - anyway, I'm switching service as of tomorrow. Two thumbs way down... .

Never dropped a call in one year of using my Sprint Treo all over newmarket.

Portions of Newmarket are great but the SW corner of Newmarket, into Newfields is terrible. Most of this is one bar or less. This is whre all the new construction in Newmarket is happening but the coverage is deplorable. There is a tower in Newfields on Baker St. by the RR tracks that would solve this problem and strengthen the weak signal at the Stratham Circle but Sprint isn't interested in using it. I've even complained to Sprint ecare to no avail.

Great service all over the Newmarket area (and many other parts of NH)... .no complaints.

Why repeat what people have said below... ..Nextel is not an option if you live here. You might as well just carry a broken, no working phone around and pay a monthly fee for it. That is how bad Nextel is in the Newmarket, NH area and basically stays that bad all around the Rockingham County Area.

Sprint has invested some serious money since the last posting 6 months ago... ..Go with Sprint, the signal is great all over. You just have to make sure you have a dual band phone and you can get signal almost anywhere.

New resident to Newmarket, Sprint says there is coverage but much of the town isn't covered. Glad my commitment is almost up, it's time to switch cell company and get a new phone.
