Had no signal in the house until late 2009 and then one day had five bars, and that's how it's stayed. But... NO AT&T service in downtown Newmarket.

I have T-Mobile and I get perfect reception in Newmarket. It's actually funny to see all of these comments. I had no reception at my girlfriend's house in East Kingston... NONE. She has Verizon so she got reception out there, but when we moved her signal slowly faded away and the signal on my phone got stronger. There's no 3G for T-Mobile in NH but the EDGE network is quick enough for me in the house. If you want / have to stay with your current cell phone provider, add the wi-fi option to your phone plan. Your cell phone will get full service and you can use it as your house phone without using your minutes! Good luck everyone!

Sprint has invested some serious money since the last posting 6 months ago... ..Go with Sprint, the signal is great all over. You just have to make sure you have a dual band phone and you can get signal almost anywhere.

Full bar in Newmarket; in fact with number of tests using Speedtest.net's app, it's faster and less congested than receiving data in Portsmouth. I've always been happy with Sprint / Nextel in this area. Where I came from in west coast had very spotty Sprint coverage but the towers seem to be abundant. Lately though not sure if they're upgrading the towers but the speed has gone down quite a bit. I don't think there's really any 'perfect' rating until 4G is rolled out and can get consistent speed above any cable network.

Decent reception from my apartment on Bennett Way using Verizon's PCS. (1900MHz) Occaisionally I get more bars at my apartment if I force my phone to roam (free) onto Unicell (800MHz). However, Unicell seems to drop calls more. Downtown has almost no service. I roam onto Unicell there and along route 108 between Durham and Newmarket. Durham has good Verizon PCS reception most places, but at times it roams onto Unicell.

I get one bar of reception on Grant Rd, Newmarket, two miles from town. My wife gets four bars on her phone w/AT&T. When I go to Conway NH, my Sprint service con only receive on roam. Verizon users do well in this area.

Poor reception from T-mobile. I am on a Pre-paid plan and want to shift some other carrier. I hardly get one bar on my phone. Some T-Mobile kiosk people say, post paid is better. But, I asked the T-Mobile store people in Portsmouth, they say prepaid and post paid coverage for T-Mobile is same.

Newmarket is a black hole for cell phone coverage. I can only get 1 bar if I'm lucky, and it's fleeting. I'm lucky if I can send a text.
