Even if I have full bars the people I call frequently hear excessive static. Literally 50% of the time when dialing I get messages such as "network connection error", "network busy", "error", etc. Routinely my calls are dropped mid conversation. While technically I get reception, I gave a rating of 1 because of the consistent problems. I am just waiting out my contract to go back to t-mobile.

Generally, I get 2 - 3 bars indoors on Pine St. but can get 5 bars if I am by a window or outdoors. I have had excellent luck with reception. I really haven't noticed many dead spots or had any issues with dropped calls. I travel in the Portsmouth, Stratham, Rye, Durham, Dover, Kittery and South Berwick area.

Usually have five bars and good reception but since October have had seven different occassions where there was no reception, dropped calls, no service, etc. This has happened now 5 times in three weeks. Usually its out in that area for at least five, six hours. If you drive away from town about a mile phone comes in. Verizon tells me it is the tower 1 / 10 of a mile away from my home and I am not the only one having trouble. They say they did some reprogramming in Ocotber 2004. Each time I call they say they have fixed it but I know its just a matter of a few days or a week that it will happen again. They are just throwing a bandaid on problem but major surgery is necessary. Will not stay with Verizon.

Used to have great service on Verizon throughout downtown Portsmouth. They tell me that some reprogramming of towers last Fall has led to some holes in service. ONe of those holes is my office. Most of the area right along the Piscataqua river all the way to the Mall in Newington is now very "iffy". Verizon's been telling me they're going to fix this since October. It's getting worse. and I'm still under contract, having to pay for service I don't have.

I am uncertain why this is a dead zone for AT&T Wireless and Nextel but reception in this area is sporatic and often non-existant (New Market.)
I was told by a close friend in the cable television industry service in this area is disrupted by topographical features; specifically, the granite hills right alongside of route 108.

The (3) northern most beaches in New Hampshire remain inconsistent at best for cellular service. (I can not confirm Nextel communications.)
Whether this is because of the sea level conditions or some other anomolie, I do not know. Reception seems to improve greatly once you are 2 tot 3 blocks inland (1/4 mile.)
