I've had ATT / Cingular for several years. Since getting the V180, my cell phone reception has gotten worse. I had an Ericsson which worked everywhere even in my home.

Sprint was better! Almost no service at my house despite promises made by sales rep.

Receiption varies considerably throughout the area but has improved significantly, with GSM service being generally at least usable throughout. Used to have a dead spot at the house - no more since switching to GSM.

Not only does the carrier stink but so does this over priced phone. I got it a year ago this July and the first few days were awesome. Then we had the great black out over the east coast and since then its been downhill. My phone constantly displays Emergency Calls Only. This is due to the SIM card and the fact that when this phone was made they forgot a frequency. Now AT&T uses that frequncy but I can't get the right service. I work on a construction site and never get calls through on my phone. Sometimes it will ring to let me know I missed a call or have voice mail but even then I have to use a land line to retrieve the message. Standing in my own apartment I can't get a good signal either, I have to stand on the patio or by a window so I can talk. AT&T has no intention of repalcing this phone even though they know its obsolete with their system, yet they still sell it for $399 or give it away free now I hear. It's worth for trade in is only $60. I travel frequently to NYC and even there the reception is terrible. I visit my folks and have to go out in the backyard to make or recieve any calls. I'm going to Verizon now since that is the carrier of the majority that work here and no one has had a problem yet.

In the last year Sprint is freaking awesome. Always a strong signal and all the way to Newark and back. They have kicked it up a notch or two. Love it!

Worst mistake I've made yet with picking a cell phone service. T Mobile is the absolute pits. Constantly battling to try to get reception in Hillsborough and surrounding area. Calls get dropped all the time if I manage to be able to get one through.

After a couple of years with T-Mobile, I am ready to call it quits. The reception is just terrible everywhere I go in Hillsborough anc Central NJ in general. There is about 1 square foot in my house where the service is tolerable. Occasionally, I have been unable to access my voicemail from my Sidekick. As for T-Mobile service, I found that also to be lacking. I had a representative quote me 20 cents a mb for International downloads only to find the actual cost was $20.00 per MB. I got no satisfaction from customer support who automatically docked my account for hundreds of dollars. Considering that I never come close to using my minutes due to poor reception, it was just the last straw. Glad to find this site.
