Verizon coverage totally sucks. I have to forward my calls form my Verizon number to a T-Mobile number to carry on conversations. Bars are like switch and bait... they disappear as soon as you go to make a call... ..what makes this more painful is that my Verizon bill is nearly triple my T-Mobile bill that includes unlimited US and foreign calls. The main place my Verizon does work is on major interstates while driving.

I've had the phone for a week. I got decent reception and 3G was active most of the time until yesterday. Now I can't send or receive e-mail or text messages and the phone reception is pathetic.

I have been ATT customer since last 4 years. It was good when I was in TX. Since last year, when I moved to Newport, connection has been worst at its best. I have been cursing ATT since last year. I rarely get calls when I am in jersey city. Its bit better in NYC, but still not good. I want to change to Verizon, hope its good though.

There is no service around Harborside Financial Center. I cannot make, receive any phone call in the building. People who has Verizon have no problem with iphone.

Horrible experience I am having with AT&T. Opting for another service provider of course. Whatever people have written about AT&T above is certainly TRUE. Bye bye AT&T.

Reception bars suddenly change from full to no coverage. Even with full coverage, calls often drop or voice quality is poor.

My bars go up and down for no reason. When it's raining, my reception sucks! Also, what's up with all these dropped calls?? Are you joking me AT&T?? Going to Sprint and getting my Evo 3D!

No Reception at my home. Calls going directly to voicemail or give false ring to callers..missed so many important calls... Stupid service..go them hell.

The above reviews leave nothing to say. The reception quality is the pits! I get 100% coverage in a third world country like India! AT&T is fleecing the customers for using the iPhone. Their $15 / month data plan is of no use at all in Jersey City where I work. I have a colleague who uses T-Mobile, pays less and gets excellent coverage. AT&T SUCKS BIG TIME!

23rd Floor Apartment has little to no cell reception. Used to live next door on 10th floor and had the same problem. My phone won't even ring and calls go right to voicemail. Had to get a VOIP to be able to make and receive calls while at home. Works fine outside.

I use the iPhone 4. It has the worst reception here in Exchange Pl. Jersey City. My Phone battery drains off as it keeps on searching for network. I cant accept any calls when I am in office. If I have to use my cell phone, I have to go down and outside my building to use it. I have been At&T customer for 2 years now. But I hate it now, and to break this stupid contract of theirs I need to pay $250. Please dont use AT&T.

good reception. No call has dropped of failed so far ( it has been a month ) I had almost forgotten what it was to speak on phone for an hour with out any call drops / static ( I was on AT and T before )

I stay near Hamilton park on the 2nd floor. If the phone is near the window, I see the bars fluctuating from 1 to 3. If I move to my kitchen, I get nothing. Even when sitting near the window, call quality is extremely poor. Sometimes when I call friends when I am walking outside, I see 5 bars, but it is difficult to make out what they are saying, as if the signal is compressed beyond recognition. I plan to sell my phone, break the contract and switch to Sprint or Verizon.

Horrible reception at Exchange place next to Goldman Sachs, right across from ground zero / hudson river, prime financial HQ and buisness hotspot. How could ATT ignore this area? I have had ATT for 10 years now planning to give it up.

Always drops calls at Liberty State Park. It used to be good, not anymore.

I have had this phone for a few days and it is working fairly well so far. I believe metropcs has made a deal to use Verizon and Sprint towers. I used to have verzion and the service is almost identical.

I can't use my phone in my own home. Calls are patchy, and dropped on CONSTANT basis. Almost every call is dropped, people can't hear me on the other end. All I can use it for is txt and email, useless as a phone... .calls are dropped in the middle of Manhattan, too.l I rely on this phone to find a job and this horrible service already cost me several interviews. I have been AT&T client for 7 years, and services progressively got worse, while fees just got higher. I called and of course got "no problems in the area" response after 30 minutes on the phone second week in the row. AT&T lies make me so angry! If AT&T wants me to pay my bills on time, it should be in its best interest to fix these issues for me, so I can interview and get employed. MY unemployment directly affects AT&T, yet AT&T is telling me to buy some sort of attachment, or charge me a fee for leaving, while being responsible for sh*tty service. AAAAAGH!

The reception signal is terrible. iphone 4 is even worse (if not worst, although I can not find another worse than iphone 4). No signal at all.

ATT reception in newport area is Abysmal! constant call drops very very poor reception and reception is not constant. A good tower can be a dropped call within seconds. In apartments, on roads,everywhere in this area AT&T signal reception is the worst.

I've read the other comments and have to agree. It's utterly ridiculous how bad AT&T service is in the Jersey City area... at least along the water. I don't know if it's only an iPhone problem or not, but just having moved up here I can only say I'm severely disappointed. Not being a New Yorker, you certainly here a lot of bad press about the poor service on the iPhone in Manhattan, but working in Manhattan and living in Jersey City, it's not even comparable... Jersey City is seriously terrible. I love the iPhone but may have to leave it for a different service. The iPhone can be a great gadget, but if ou can't use it as a cell phone what's the point. At times I can talk to someone where I have full 3G service and will instantly lose their call, then it jumps back to full service. A 5 minute call can honestly drop 4 times... pointless!
