I'm not one to run out and buy the latest phone as you can see. I've used Nextel since 1999 and kept it because on 9 / 11 I was able to use the direct connect feature to contact my husband that day. Ever since they merged with Sprint, my service has declined. I'm always getting dropped calls -especially in my apt. Before I can move around and use the phone while I cooked or while online. Now, I have to stand at a certain spot in my studio apt in order just to hear the person. The sound is choppy and garbled. I always have either 2 bars or "No Service" and I'm so frustrated! I can't even use my phone in my studio apt and if I have to find a small spot in my studio just to talk - that's bad. I complained to Sprint / Nextel and they commented that they have 2 old towers that get serviced twice a week. They need to get with it. I hope to find a better provider ASAP.

Okay coverage, I get full bars around most of my house. They do have problems here and there with their service, as to where thousands of people lose AIM / MSN / Yahoo services. But its not specific to my area. T-Mobile reception isnt GREAT, but not horrible. Dont recommend it if your cellphone is your life though.

I had no signal ever since I moved to Jersey City from Atlanta. I got to know that my colleagues had never had a T-Mobile signal in this area / building. Many people complained many times, but nothing happened. People chose another carrier in frustration. I am waiting for my contract to get over. AVOID T-Mobile in all case.

Frequent drops, very inconsistent. Sometime OK, a lot of dead time and garble. Overall really bad

I lived here for 2 years and never got any good service using Cingular in my apartment. I lived on the 20th floor and faced south. I had to stand by the window anytime I wanted to use the phone, and I still got horrible service... dropped calls, voice cuts in and out. It was very frustrating.

I have Cingular and live on the lower floor of the new Shore condos. I only get service (about 4 bars) when I stand close to the balcony door or actually on the balcony. Otherwise, I get sketchy service everywhere else in my condo. The farther away from the balcony door, the worse it gets. The phone is completely useless about 10 feet away from the balcony door.

Coverage is pretty good. FYI, Cingular has coverage underground in the Pavonia-Newport PATH station (phone gets 4-5 bars underground!). They must have integrated it with the Public Safety radiax. This map is definitely missing a lot of tower sites in Jersey City. My building has a tower, and I can see at least 5 more cell sites out my window, and none are pictured in the tower map. I used to be a T-Mobile customer, and thought coverage was pretty good in downtown JC.
