AT&T really rules livingston. T-Mobile is completely second rate, a joke.

I have full service all around Livingston. Works in all Livingston Public Schools, including Livingston High School. I can't find out single place in Livingston where my phone says "No Service". Absolutely the best, clearest coverage of any provider!

3G coverage seems to now hit many parts of livingston. Dead spots: 1) White Oak Ridge Rd south of South Orange Ave. 2) Northfield Rd and Prospect Av at top of hill in W. Orange.

I get fair reception on Verizon near East Hanover. The only dead area I know of is on Passiac Ave., near Roseland. I get dropped there about 10% of the time depending on the weather.

Reception pretty bad at home (off Northfield) on heavily treed street, but pretty good elsewhere. On the whole, better than average outdoors, sub-par indoors. Biggest problem: Voice mail messages occasionally don't appear until days after they've been received!

Huge weak spot around my whole neighborhood. VZ cant seem to figure it out, the're like, "we have a tower just around the corner from you guys" so I tell them that there's a huge HILL inbetween the tower, and the just say, well there's a tower on the other side of the hill two... Inside reception is possible, especially with newer models. Old phone=no service. If I walk to the area in my house where steel was used during construction, no chance of signal on my Motorola E815. Tried MOST VZW phones, all have same problems. Basement is, no question, no service, anywhere. People with Cingular go in my basement and have full service! They told us all that they cant put a tower near the center of the town because "the town won't allow us" even though there are towers for every other company on the corner of Livingston Ave. and Route 10 / Mount Pleasant Avenue, a block or two from my house.

Nextel's push to talk network is really cool, but their coverage and service is very disappointing. Nextel works on most main streets, but doesn't work in any Livingston school, and is usually displaying NO SERVICE more than it actually works! However, their network (iDEN) technology is probably one of the best, and is great if you absolutely need the Direct Connect (2-way rado) feature.

Reception is horrible and calls are dropped all the time. This is confirmed with 4 phones used by people visiting me. I can't even use the phone in the house. Nevertheless T-Mobile, Cingular, and Sprint all have great reception.
