I don't know why people give AT&T Wireless such a hard time. I get full bars all over on Rutgers' College Avenue campus.

Since the Cingular takeover of ATT I have experienced minimal service problems. I get a much better signal indoors than any other carrier, especially Verizon. Cingular customer service sucks though, don't expect a call if you forget to pay a bill... they will simply shut you phone off. The only place I experience problems is in large buildings with basements (The Stress Factory, on Church St., for example)... I get absolutely no service there while all other providers have minimal problems. I've also noticed some problems in the Rutgers Student Center, especially in their computer lab.

I don't understand why so many people say that Nextel is bad. I used to have T-Mobile, and they were good for awhile but then started to get really bad customer service and reception. I got an i530 awhile ago and I ave no problem whatsoever. I am an EMT and drive all over NY, NJ, and PA I need good reception. Nextel give me that, the 2 way is great and very handy and I am on the free incoming plan. How can you resist. Ok, I am in and out of hospitals all day, I know you are told not to use cell phones in hospitals but, have you taken a good look at what the nurses and doctors are talking on behind the nurses station. Anyway, the point I am trying to make is alot of carriers lose signal, Nextel works in almost al the hospitals I have been in, INCLUDING in the elevators. Another thing is Sprint bought Nextel, the technology is merging. Futhermore, it is rumored that another major carrier is going to buy them out once they get all the bugs worked out of the new merged system. So before you go out and get a cell phone, check around and pay alot of attention to Nextel. You won't be dissapointed.

Service declined when Cingular took over the ATT Wireless TDMA system. Now it takes 45-60 seconds to get service when this phone is turned on (Extended Area). Our second phone Mototola V60 takes over an hour if lucky. Once on, calls usually go through and are not interrupted. Will change either to Cingular GSM or more likely Verizon CDMA. Like the current phones for basic service. Not interested in the bells and whistles of most new phones.

I've had Sprint / Nextel for more than 7 years now, I've always been disappointed with Sprint / Nextel. The service is pretty bad in the NE / Northern Mid-Atlantic states. I'm in Baltimore now, no service. Tomorrow, in New Brunswick, NJ, I'm sure to have pretty bad service. And, I wouldn't expect more even if I were to head up to Boston. I'm going to switch providers this week.
