Out of Morris, Passaic, Bergen and Sussex counties I've only had a problem with some areas of Vernon / Highland Lakes and some areas in Sparta. Otherwise my reception for the 8 years I've had Verizon has been perfect. I'm only reviewing everyones reviews because I'm tired of Verizon's plans and rip-off costs.

Dead zone the whole length of the valley, from Rt 23 to Rt 15, and up Ridge Rd (Glen Rd) through to Sparta. I complained and they sent a technician, who confirmed the lack of service. Nextel then said they had no plans to do anything about it for the next 2 years. I think Sprint wants to cripple them, and have everybody move to Sprint.

Last year (2005 service was better in my area) this year it has been sporatic and many dropped calls on route 23 south heading down towards Butler. I have been tempted to switch but don't think the alternatives are better. No reception in the Wal mart at franklin but found out that Sprint works inside. Sprint (Nextel is lousy in my area...

Apparently, Cingular sends software updates that help with the location and enhancement to their network of cell towers. Or at least thats what they've told me! When I first got my phone there was some reception at home, but since one of these brilliant updates have now lost this entirely. Customer service (or lack thereof) tells me this is impossible, I have invited them to come and try, is absolutely hopeless. I switched from T-Mobile (no service in Oak Ridge) and have come to regret it. The latest genius at Cingular has told me "well what do you expect with a Motorola the Nokia is a much better phone". Oh well!
