For years, my reception in this spot was poor and erratic. A few days ago I started getting consistent 5-bar reception. I think a new tower was set up nearby.

Something changed recently. We've lived in our home for over 9 years and have always had good reception. Recently we noticed that signal strength has been poor with lots of dropped calls. We got new phones and had major issue activating them because we could not get a signal without being in a very specific spot in our home. New phones did not help. Our guest complain about the same problem. We do not have any new wireless equipment in our home.

Really? I work in Fine Hall, and have trouble connecting sometimes.

Verizon and AT&T have recently installed cell sites atop Fine Tower, a building on the Princeton University campus and probably the tallest building in Princeton. Cell service in Princeton should have improved dramatically as a result. I understand that Sprint and T-Mobile will also be installing cell sites in the same location very soon.

Reception for Verizon on campus got much better this year. I call always get a signal in the basement of the physics building while my friends can only use their T-Mobile phones upstairs.

Is it just me or has Verizon gone from best reception in Princeton to middle of the pack? I used to get cut off 10% of the time at Hibeen. These days, I almost always get cut off. The front of Hibben is better than the back, but anywhere indoors -- forget it. And I'm on the 7th floor. My T-Mobile romoates have been doing better than me. I really hate cell phone reception in Princeton. I;d ditch my cell phone if my roomate was willing to pay for 1 / 2 of a landline.... and if Verizon didn't "own" me for 2 years...

Works perfectly outside, but only the almighty and the fire marshall know what material these bunkers called New Graduate College are built out of, for the walls serve as perfect shielding for cellphone reception. When inside the cellphone should be left on the window-sill or else the incoming calls do not reach me. That also means that when talking on cellphone I cannot even step one feet into the room in the fear of losing the connection, and have to hug the window. Again, works perfectly outside wherever I went.

Sucks. I get so frusterated when I cant get reception

There is basically poor reception from Princeton Proper until the interesection of Province line Rd. and Rosedale Rd. If travelling from Rt. 27 to Rosedale Rd., you will drop your calls. Also reception is poor on the entire ETS campus.

Verizon works fine anywhere but in my own neighborhood. Calls to Verizon support get no support on this issue.

This is after switching phones out of suspicion of an antenna problem. At the beginning of the school year in October, there was decent reception - several bars around campus, 2 or 3 in the dorm. Now there is no reception at all everywhere on campus except at the very top of Fine Math Tower, and in my dorm room (in Butler) I get at most three bars with an external antenna.

It costs more, but, its the only service that actually works with any consistency on the Princeton Campus. Parents, if your li'l darl'n is going to Princeton and you've got to renew your family plan pror to their arrival on campus, if possible, spring for Verizon. You've been warned....

only service that truly works on campus, or in town. for everyone else this small area is a dead spot as the borough will not allow cell towers to go up. Would've gotten a 5 but you only get 2 bars instead of 4 in the dorms. But those 2 are better than 0, which is what i had with sprint.
