This fluctuates a lot from -104dbm with an EC / IO ratio of 20dbm+ to -79dbm with EC / IO around 2dbm. These changes occur quickly and overall reception is crystal clear regardless. I never get multiple towers / BTSs at once but over 30 are available. Other facts: SCI (forced) 2 or less, ACCOLC: 2 PRL: 50512 PRI (primary rate interface) 0x9320, P REV 6(IS-95C), Rate Set: packet 144 / 230k, RX FER (frame error rate: (AVG. [calculated by me]).54%, 1900mhz with 231BTS yields best reception, VOCODER: EVRC 8k (2g version), 1 dropped call since early spring '08 with nearly 15000 mins., when roaming here onto VZW, dropped calls are guaranteed within 20 mins, standby time is reduced quite a bit, and overall power consumption is much higher.

I've used my Slice in just about every enviroment, from NJ to NC, and the reception is very good. I get clear conversations in basements and woodsy area's (even NJ's Pinelands). The only 1 (and I do mean 1) area I have HORRIBLE service, is on Rt.130 south and Kinkora rd. I believe its from the concrete plant because, they are loaded with all types of metel. Other than that, I have no complants whats so ever. No contract with Virgin Mobile. I pay $35.00 per month for 300 anytime mins, 1000 night and wknds, and penny txt. They have other plan options, but this was good enough for me. And you can pay $5.00 per month for unlimited web.

I drive all over for a living. New Jersey is by far the worst place to own any cell phone because of the laws and restrictions for towers. Since I owned a Nextel one year ago the service has dramatically improved and I now get reception almost always. Some places in Northern Burlington County will not get reception in part due to Fort Dix and McGuire AFB, although it has gotten much better. I also drive from 95 south / New Hope., PA to Belmar on I-295 all the time. Some times I have problems with dropping calls while driving around SH 38 junction on I-295, seems as if it is switching towers? If someone with verizon or sprint calls me I can hardly hear them becaus they are so unclear. If someone calls from another Nextel its as clear as a landline. Hope this helps.

constant 5 bars with this phone the flips i have had previously are totally worthless for signal strength
went back to the candy bar style with the sanyo scp4900 and love it.
i believe the reason most people lose signal is their weak flip phones just dont cut it. i used to lose signal in my basement even with the new samsung a-500 this sanyo pulls 4-5 bars constantly
a lot of people complain about sprint pcs service but i will say this, on my multiple trips to myrtle beach SC there are only 2 spots where i lost
digital signal with the flips 1 in NC and the other
on 501 in SC.
looking forward to my next trip so i can see how this new phone is
