Spint has pitiful coverage at best through out the west side but Golf Course and Irving you get nada. Don't bother calling Sprint on it. They have heard it all before and don't care.

T-Mobile is OK for the most part. Reception is good most of the time. Many dropped calls over the last five years. Phones are way out of date, even the new ones need faster processors.

Verizon reception varies in the house, but standing near SW window gives the best, up to 4 bars. Also have Verizon LG-VX-8300 phones and Sprint BlackBerry 8703e. Sprint is even worse than Verizon for reception and dropped calls in this neighborhood.

The service is great in the foothills. We started with Alltel when we lived in Gallup and have found that the reception across the state is equal to Verizon and surpasses all the others. If you are going to buy phones, you get a big price break by purchasing on-line as opposed to buying from the nearby stores, on Paseo del Norte or even at ABQ Uptown.

I have had Sprint for several years and I too have been locked into an iron maiden contract with them. I am NOT happy with Sprint nor there "customer service". I actually live next to a cell tower (don't know who's it is) but I can't even make a call from my house! When I do connect it promptly drops my call! Frustrating! Not to mention the prices and the contracts! I am not satisfied with Sprint at all and as soon as I sell my first born I will break the contract and go with Verizon. Sprint away from this Cell Phone Service Provider!

My cell works great all over Abq although I have expirenced one dead spot. It's just as you pass Sandia Casino on Tramway headed up to the heights. Other than that one spot I'm great! I even use my treo as a modem from home and I connect with all bars up!

I live smack in the middle of Albuquerque, near the illustrious ABQ Uptown shopping center, just south of the old Winrock complex. I have had trouble with weak signals for years in this location I have lived here for 6 yrs and have always had trouble getting a strong signal to place or receive a call. I am also in a "fantastic" coverage area as well as on the second floor of my apartment complex with no other floors above me. You'd think I'd get primo reception however this is not the case. Apparently all cell phone companies suck no matter where you are!

Two of us had tri-mode phones while vacationing at Valle Escondido (half way between Taos and Angel Fire). Neither one of us could get coverage in this area, not even on roaming. We drove over to Angel Fire one evening, and still didn't get any coverage, both analog and digital were nonexistant.

Qwest service is mediocre at best. I roam all over Albuquerque. I hunt and fish and go off of the beaten path and never get service. Now this would not be a big deal and is expected but when I go with family and friends who have a different service they have coverage and I don't. I don't recommend Qwest if you are going to base your decision on reception.

In and around the house the reception is very poor and usually drops calls. There is only a couple of places inside the house to complete a call.

I've been with Alltel for 10 years. I have broke away and tried Verizon once about 5 years ago, but it didn't work out and I switch back within 6 mo. I travel all over NM with my job and Alltel does well. They are certainly not perfect, but do a very good job. I also Have an air card with them and the service have been good. I am not happy that the majority of the State has EVDO internet, but Albuquerque / Santa FE do not. They have been promising this within the next 2 mo for the last year. Now they are saying 6 / 07. That is my only complaint with them. What few billing issues I have had have been addressed quickly and in a professional manner.

I have been with Alltel under various names since 1991. Most of the people I work with are with Verizon, between Albquerque and Taos, Alltel has constantly given me good coverage. In agreement with another review though, Wyoming and Osuna is a dead spot and will drop any call in progress. Must be the Police sub-station I have guessed.

Drop calls in side house and the only way to receive a call is to be by a window, very bad location for Cingular phones. If you go out side of house to the east singal is fine.

Very pleased with Verizon's coverage. No major problem in Abq. A few dropped calls here and there but overall very good service. I travel to rural areas in New Mexico and get service where even the coverage map shows no service.

I have had Sprint for several years and been locked into contracts because of new phone upgrades, but they have horrible service all over Albuquerque. I drop calls all the time at I-25 / Candelaria and I-40 / 12th, many places off of Irving west of Coors BLVD, I-40 / 98th, and the most frustrating of all, in my home, in the SW heights, reception is the worst. Sitting in my home and not even moving, the call drops. Steer away from Sprint in ABQ. Check the number of Sprint complaints in this forum.

I've had pretty decent coverage with T-Mobile. I've never had a dropped call in Albuquerque on T-Mobile. I will admit their coverage outside of the city is kind of spotty, and, at points, I will go roaming on Cingular while outside of the city.
