Had Sprint for 2 years, and service was adequate in Albuquerque, but almost nonexistant outside of cities, and roaming wasn't included free (69 cents a minute). Switched to Verizon, and have been very impressed, phone works just about everywhere, and no raoming fees, plus I was able to go with a cheaper plan because most people I talk to are already on Verizon, and I get unlimited mobile to mobile to other Verizon customers. I travel a lot, and could only use my Sprint phone in very limited areas, which made it almost useless at times. Though I rarely got dropped calls at home with Sprint, my reception was 3 bars max, with Verizon, it is always very strong. Verzizon has better customer service, customer web site, and seems overall to be much more professional. When I switched, Sprint started offering roaming (as a $5 a month option), but beware that this is limited to no more than 50% of overall minutes used, and they can terminate service if you exceed this. Had to read the fine print very closely for this. Have been a Verizon customer for 3 months now, and no major complaints. They aren't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

There is a transformer at the intersection of Lead and Maple. All other wireless except T-Mobile work in that entire block.

I'm going to pay to get out of my Cingular contract, hopefully not the full amount, as they've given me a Samsung and a Nokia to try, and all three have horroble reception in my house. As I drive around with my RAZR, I'm constantly repeating myself to people as the calls are so broken up. I don't think Cingular and Albuquerque are ready for eachother.

Forget about it in Ventana Ranch. Dropped calls galore. Run around from Cingular 1 yr togo on contract and wont give me new phone either. Had problems with ATt but since the switchorver its horrendous. Poor reception in various areas also throughout ABQ. Don't know why they are opening up new store. You need to go to other sales locations to find out the real deal

i have had Sprint for 5 years and I live in the 87109 and 87111 areas - I have never had problems with my Sprint service... .. fyi whoever commented on Wyoming and Paseo del Norte - look at the building on the SE corner of that intersection... .. ALL cell phone coverage is blocked to an extent in that area due to that building. I am not going to say what the building is, but anybody who lives in that area is familiar with it.

I am constantly getting dropped calls in my neighborhood, and Cingular got us for a two year contract. When our contract is up in April, I'm switching to Verizon!

I personally get this type of reception all over the city of Abq, NM. I've only rec'd bad spots around Lead / Coal and Garrard SE which has been like this since U.S.West Cellular has had analog svc back in 1994 ! Oh yes, I still get dead spots in these same areas!

Osuna / 4th intersection, Albuquerque, NM 87107 Thu Dec 29, 2005

Reception in most of the Los Ranchos area is nonexistant due to the fact that the village covenants prohibit any towers. Since I live and work in that area, it makes life very difficult at times. Oddly enough, I have great reception at my house (the only reason I keep this service.) Down the street from my house, there is none. Many places in and around Albuquerque are very sketchy. Everyone in my family has Sprint so that makes it hard to change but when my contract is up, I will seriously be looking at something else.

Verizon is a great serivice. I highly recommend it. However, there is an east-west band of bad reception from Glenwood Hills (east of Tramway on Manitoba) down to Juan Tabo NE. My house, my office and my kid's school are all in this bad area. My calls drop very frequently when I am in this area. In the rest of Albuquerque and across the nation, it is almost always reliable in my experience (except in fringe areas) I would recommend Verizon to anyone who lives in New Mexico and travels outside of the urban areas (such as they are).

Ever since they moved the road we have a new "dead" zone! So much for talking on your phone and driving at the same time.
