works barely inside anywhere, not at all in some places in angel fire, good in eagle nest and spotty in taos and red river. if heading east, there is no signal between eagle nest and amarillo at all. find another povider. don't let sprint / nextel sell you an the tower in angel fire. if you can't see it you can't use it.
Verizon was heavily advertised in Angel Fire in 2008, but I had roaming. I increased to a heavier plan, then had fairly consistent Extended Network coverage. On 1Jul2009, the coverage cycled between 4 bars to "searching" and on 6 Jul dropped completely. On 8Jul, I was told by Verizon that they had pulled out of the Angel Fire market entirely, leaving with no service, not even roaming. I confirmed this with several other subscribers, including people in the village government. Verizon suggested I switch to AT&T or T-Mobile. Both my wife and I were using tri-mode phones that worked elsewhere, to include the jungles of SE Asia. But not Angel Fire.
Cingular (now at&t) has reception. Dropped calls happen frequently though. And there is a weird echo 80% of the time -- what you say is echoed back to you. No reception in some parts of Red River, Eagle Nest, Black Lake. NOTE: Alltel did have reception this summer (June,2008). A friend used them but I don't know their phone model. They said coverage was spotty.
Two of us had tri-mode phones while vacationing at Valle Escondido (half way between Taos and Angel Fire). Neither one of us could get coverage in this area, not even on roaming. We drove over to Angel Fire one evening, and still didn't get any coverage. Both analog and digital signals were nonexistant.
Was at Angel Fire, NM over the the days of March 1st to the 4th. Have always had reception till this time. Called tech support there was no help there. Said there must not be a tower to hit but other people talking on their phones. I would say there was a tower! Have Total Freeedom Plans for area that is to be covered but no coverage. Bet they dont reduce the bill!
had coverage at angel fire until recent. phones read no network coverage. no one at Alltel knows why this is happening. multiple service orders placed. Alltel still advertises coverage at Angel Fire although there is not. Not analog or digital
