We really got had with this phone deal. The phone will say it has service but if you can get a call to go out, the battery will be flat in minutes. You can't leave the phone on for any length of time either. It will be flat within an hour or two.
I have been with Verizon several years and have always had trouble with service in Estancia. After switching phones numerous times only to go back to an old dual model Audiovox 4500. Until last year when I had the luck to run into a sales rep in Abq that new his stuff! He manually activated (not the *228 stuff) and was told NOT to ever *228 if I wanted service in my home area. My new Kyocera KX414 worked awesome for almost a year! The ear plug in this phone recently went bad. It was still under warranty and they (Verizon call center)replaced it with another that had been returned or refurbished (via us mail). Bummer! This phone obviously did not have factory roaming codes because it didnt hold a signal when manually activated... thus it was returned to store in Abq for another Kyocera model ( K404-newer version?) and it also could not maintain a signal out here. Spent $100 on Kyocera KX414 on ebay, still factory sealed and had same person manually activate... to no avail. NO SERVICE OUT HERE! What happened? Was told (very, very rudely) by Verizon 1-800 Rep that I had to *228 that it could not be programmed otherwise... I have been programming that way in this analog area for 5 yrs, why not now? Every time I did have it manually activate it, when I hit a digital area I did the *228... except this past year when I was told not mess with the codes and had excellent service. Verizon lost their contract with plateau out here... hmmmm,... Am I costing Verizon too much money so they knowingly create roaming codes I cant use? Sounds paranoid but make business sense to get rid of the few costing them mega bucks... Looking for more reliable cover in the East Mountains and Estancia Valley area that will not cost me an arm and leg in Albuq to use... any suggestions?
