Verizon is advertising 4g broadband service, but 3g is deteriorating / disappearing. This means a smartphone or their wireless network won't work. And old fashioned cell phone still works. We and neighbors have been fighting with Verizon about this for about two weeks and they have been telling us to fix our hardware or software. Finally, a service tech admitted off-the-record that something has gone wrong at their tower and for reasons unknown to him they have plans to fix it. This suggests major dishonesty on their part. They know it is their fault, but deny it and sell us hardware that they know won't work. It looks like they will let us out of our contracts -- that is they won't insist that we pay for a service that doesn't exist. But we are stuck with equipment that is useless. And of course we have lost faith in a company that deceived us. If you are in the Pojoaque Valley don't invest in any equipment that relies on Verizon Broadband.

Verizon works in El Rancho and along the 285 corridor pretty well. I do occasionally have a dropped call at home or near the opera house, but over all, it is pretty good.

Terrible reception in the hills. Have to look for hotspots with view of cell tower for service. I get 4 bars and yet will not receive calls. Other times no bars and it rings, but cant hear the caller. Text Messaging is the only way to communicate in this area.

Reception and Service sucks big time! I have three bars on my phones but often they will not receive incoming calls. When callers leave messages I often will get them 1 to 2 hours later. On numerous occaisions I have tried to call my cell phone using my land line and have been routed to my cell phones voicemail without my cellphone ever ringing. Verizon refuses to take responsibility for this and has no solution to offer.

'America Choice Plan' Decent coverage in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and other large cities, but gets undependable outside urban areas. I've been with Verizon for 4 years and am considering another carrier. The customer service with Verizon has degraded (worry free guarantee, my eye) in this time and they have substantially changed my service without any notice (other than a huge bill). After talking to a half dozen service reps., I've written the corporate offices but don't expect to hear back. In the past, I raved about how great Verizon was. Not anymore. My biggest concern, other than the huge unexplained bills resulting from secret changes to my account, is the fact that they cannot seem to explain why I can't make / receive calls when I have 3 or less bars! Some national plan when you can't make calls even when it seems that there is decent service!

This is the second time I try to submit a comment on this site. Apparently their database is pretty ancient since my current zip code is not recognized after being in existence for at least 5 years. Had to start all over again! I used to rave about how great Verizon was, but not anymore. Their customer service is not as good as it used to be. The local Verizon outlet is so busy it takes at least an hour to get help, and then the help isn't always helpful. After getting a huge bill, I found out that they had changed my 4 year old plan without notifying me. I spoke with no less than 5 customer 'service' reps until someone finally owned up to the outrageous mistake! They had changed portions (IN-calling) from national to local and I had quickly gone over my minutes. They also changed their rules that In-Calling calls are now charged regardless of if it is peak time or off peak, without notifying me. Another feature that I used to have, (forwarding minutes) were removed without my knowledge. If the billing isn't bad enough, the receiption is lousy. I travel a lot and even along the interstates, the coverage is spotty! Customer service cannot seem to explain why I can't make / receive calls even though my phone shows a signal of 3 bars! Reception in urban areas is pretty good, but not when you get outside the city. I'm looking for another plan that might be better.

No Verizon Reception east of this intersection between Bishops Lodge Rd.and Hyde Park Road. Very spotty reception from Santa Fe south along I-25 towards Albuquerque. Must be in Santa Fe proper for any reception and then only 3 bars. Verizon's customer service on Cerrillos is terrible. 1 to 1.5 hour wait. The customer service reps don't seem to care. Obviously very poorly managed.

I had been with Verison for about 6 years. when I started, reception was not great and I would loose calls moderately often. I was told that they were building towers and things would get better. It did for about 3 years and I would only loose calls ocasionally. Over the past year, however, coverage has gotten pathetic. (Yes, even after reprogramming) Now I have trouble making calls around Santa Fe and only a few places will work going to Albuquerque. I don't know what is going on but no cell phone is better that what I have now.

Have to be in line of sight with a tower south and west of Los Alamos, probably the one on a mountain top near Jemez Springs. Cloudy conditions wipe out reception. On occasion you get Alltel's service instead of Verizon and you can be charged for roaming if you move 12 inches or less. If you get a roaming signal, just move a few feet to get Verizon again. Calling Verizon to complain does not work. They tell you every time to reprogram your phone and leave it at that. Blackberries do not work at all here.
