Reception at home (near Cerrillos and Rufina) is horrible. Sometimes my phone shows a decent signal, but I still cannot call out or receive incoming calls. Other times I just have no signal. Occasionally, everything works well. Some areas of Santa Fe I always have good signal, although many call still don't come through-I don't know someone has called until I get a signal that I have voice mail. Also, I lose signal traveling short distances from Santa Fe in almost any direction. My daughter has the same phone and carrier, and has even worse problems.
tryed geting new phone but that wasn't the problem. Verizon used to work well last year but now it just going down the drain. Keeps droping my calles even when it says I have service. Its just all jaked up.
'America Choice Plan' Decent coverage in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and other large cities, but gets undependable outside urban areas. I've been with Verizon for 4 years and am considering another carrier. The customer service with Verizon has degraded (worry free guarantee, my eye) in this time and they have substantially changed my service without any notice (other than a huge bill). After talking to a half dozen service reps., I've written the corporate offices but don't expect to hear back. In the past, I raved about how great Verizon was. Not anymore. My biggest concern, other than the huge unexplained bills resulting from secret changes to my account, is the fact that they cannot seem to explain why I can't make / receive calls when I have 3 or less bars! Some national plan when you can't make calls even when it seems that there is decent service!
This is the second time I try to submit a comment on this site. Apparently their database is pretty ancient since my current zip code is not recognized after being in existence for at least 5 years. Had to start all over again! I used to rave about how great Verizon was, but not anymore. Their customer service is not as good as it used to be. The local Verizon outlet is so busy it takes at least an hour to get help, and then the help isn't always helpful. After getting a huge bill, I found out that they had changed my 4 year old plan without notifying me. I spoke with no less than 5 customer 'service' reps until someone finally owned up to the outrageous mistake! They had changed portions (IN-calling) from national to local and I had quickly gone over my minutes. They also changed their rules that In-Calling calls are now charged regardless of if it is peak time or off peak, without notifying me. Another feature that I used to have, (forwarding minutes) were removed without my knowledge. If the billing isn't bad enough, the receiption is lousy. I travel a lot and even along the interstates, the coverage is spotty! Customer service cannot seem to explain why I can't make / receive calls even though my phone shows a signal of 3 bars! Reception in urban areas is pretty good, but not when you get outside the city. I'm looking for another plan that might be better.
No Verizon Reception east of this intersection between Bishops Lodge Rd.and Hyde Park Road. Very spotty reception from Santa Fe south along I-25 towards Albuquerque. Must be in Santa Fe proper for any reception and then only 3 bars. Verizon's customer service on Cerrillos is terrible. 1 to 1.5 hour wait. The customer service reps don't seem to care. Obviously very poorly managed.
No Cingular reception between Paseo De Peralta and Tesuque, nor between Hyde Park Rd.and Bishops lodge road. Need to be inside of Paseo de Peralta and moving south. Good coverage along I-25 towards Albuquerque
I have full bars in the city of Santa Fe ALL the time. I have had coverage in remote wooded / mountain areas like Bandelier and the Santa Fe Ski basin I have coverage in rural areas like Cerrillos, New Mexico, although maybe 2-3 bars in that situation. Everyone once in a blue moon I may lose a call but I feel that it because the parties I am calling are in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the problem is on their end, and not mine. I have no idea whether its the phone or the provider, but this is incredible service.
I had been with Verison for about 6 years. when I started, reception was not great and I would loose calls moderately often. I was told that they were building towers and things would get better. It did for about 3 years and I would only loose calls ocasionally. Over the past year, however, coverage has gotten pathetic. (Yes, even after reprogramming) Now I have trouble making calls around Santa Fe and only a few places will work going to Albuquerque. I don't know what is going on but no cell phone is better that what I have now.
