I live in a nearby apt complex, and I cannot get more than 2 bars when on the property (other phone models displayed similar problems, so it's not the phone model). Once I am out on the street the reception is 5 bars, but the loss of reception at home is extremely frustrating. However, if I am able to find a truly dead zone in the apt I can get the AT&T network which offers full bar coverage, but no way to force the phone to use that network. I drive all over the valley, and when on the road there are very few places where signal will cut out or drop a call; usually out in the boonies so it's not unexpected. One other factor is if you are trying to use a phone in a supermarket parking lot. For some reason there is an increbible amount of interference (very similar to what I find at home) so pulling out of the parking lot is a must to ensure good reception.

Nextel sucks so bad! I hate the phones, the dropped calls and reception is awful, service only next to the Nextel sign on Paradise and DI and sometimes downtown. I disliked them so much I paid the early termination and changed to Sprint... So far no problem with an i650. NOW Nextel is going to merge with Sprint, Guess next time I'll try a Sat Phone and pay $5.00 a minute, but at least I will be able to make and complete a call!

I've been with Nextel for over 4 years. At first, I loved them, but since June of 2004 they suck! I do not get reception in my home, if I do have a call come thru, it gets dropped! I lose reception in buildings all the time and forget traveling between here and California, reception goes in and out the entire way. And for the last 2 months, Nextel has tried to charge me for services I did not order, which means I have to call them every month and have the same conversation with them about my bill. Nextel will not let me out of my contract without paying their early disconnect fee. Come this August I'll will be changing to Verison! Only 3 more months of torture!

I have been using Sprint since 2002. Although the customer service sucked, I remained with Sprint simply because of the better than average coverage area and very few dropped calls. However, since January of 2005 something happened and the coverage totally sucks! It's not my phone either because everyone else that I know who uses Sprint says the same thing. I'd say that 9 out of 10 calls get dropped all over town. I'm switching to Verizon...

Once you cross Brent on El Capitan you get no service. I cant use my cell at my house at all. If you live past Brent in the NorthWest of Las Vegas, stay away from Nextel, they will tell you, " we cant service the area for another 12 months until our merge with Sprint is complete. I am paying the penalty and switching to a more reliable provider! F Nextel!
