I cant believe how bad VERIZON is in these parts. Nearing the tram at the airport, dropped. Into AZ, dropped, into CA, dropped! Not Pleased. Can you hear me now?? NO, but my friends with T-Mobile work!
I frequently get dropped calls anytime I use my cell at home with others who are on a land line. However, reception is otherwise perfect in the downtown area, except during rush hour when everyone's using their cell phones.
I live next to the downtown casinos and work just south of the airport, so inbetween those spots are where i make/recieve most calls. I rarely get dropped calls, and when I do you can't tell if its my phone or my friends cell phone (most of my friends or in MN). I'm thinkng of switching to T-Mobile, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger cause I'm completely satified with Sprint.
You would think that being almost dead center of Las Vegas, I would have no problem getting a signal, but NO, in my home there is 1 some times 2 bars. The calls are usually dropped and when trying to call out I get stuck in limbo, not connecting or disconnecting. Even though I love my sidekick, I'm going to AT&T. No use having a great phone that doesn't work.
Since the merger with AT&T and a rollout of a new network they are working on, when they moved us from their legacy system to the 'New and Improved' system, it got worse. Dropped calls, calls rolling right into voice mail, minimal to no reception - just didn't make sense. Had them switch us back to the legacy system and it works pretty good - not great, but better then average. All carriers need to figure out how to make this work - only if the FCC wouldn't stop the technology out there from reaching the US, maybe we could have Great Service with any or all of the carriers...
I've been very impressed with my T-Mobile reception! I work on the strip (at Tropicana) and get 5 bars even in the basement location of my office! I used to have Verizon (and a Samsung phone) and never got a signal at work, even when I was on the casino level. With T-Mobile I get 5 bars 97% of the time and the lowest I've gotten is 4 bars (usually in my home at Decatur and Harmon). I also travel frequently to Henderson and get 5 bars there too (at the 215 and Gibson). The combination of T-Mobile and a Motorola phone is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Glad I got rid of Sprint, even if Cingular isn't much better. Sprint rarely had a signal at my house, which is only about a mile from downtown. The phone didn't ring when someone called, and it often took two to three weeks for the voicemail to appear. I ended up telling people I didn't own a cell phone because Sprint's service was worthless.
Drops about 70-80% of all calls, even though it usually claims 4-5 bars of reception. Calls are filled with static, and I find myself asking people to repeat themselves four or five times in a ten minute call. Sometimes I get a "no service" message, sometimes I see bars but when I try to call out, I get dead air. It's just as bad in downtown, too.
