I spent 20 months at this location and all of the lies about reception being 3g in this area were just that. I couldn't even put the phone up to my ear without dropping a call. My complaints fell on deaf ears at AT&T. I don't pay less for lousy service. Today's business ethic is turned around. They do not know who the customer is. In fact they think they are the customer and that we the true customer is suppose to be happy and satisfied with anything offered us no matter how lousy the reception is. Now that I am away from there I am going to let my money do the talking and go elsewhere.

No bar in the room, always have to go up to the roof to make calls. And often have drop calls when walking on the street. AT&T is trash!

In the past month T-Mobile has become especially bad. NO reception not just in Astoria but in midtown area as well. Tried getting a higher end Nokia thinking it would help, but no, its just poor reception to none. As a write this haven't had reception for over an hour!

I have been a happy customer of AT&T for over 5 yrs now...I have had my IPhone for the last 10 months and everything was fine until 3 months ago. I never had a dropped call or delayed text message and at first I thought the bad weather was to be blamed and that things would have gotten better...they only keep on getting worse. I basically cannot rely on my cellular for being my only way of communicating with others...I missed I don't know how many appointments and a job interview because I never received the call or the voice-mail was delivered to me sometimes more than 12 hours later. I don't want to change carrier, I am happy with my contract as long as I get the same reliable service I used to get...

Have had Cingular, now AT&T, in Astoria for several years. In my apt there are usually 3-4 bars indicated, but when you get a call they disappear, and in order to have a conversation, you have to press up against a window, or go outside in the street. Same issue at work at 8th Av and 50th St. in Manhattan. No service inside our office building unless you are near a window. It's pretty pathetic. When you call AT&T they have no solution, just, "I think they are planning to build another tower near you soon". They tell you to turn it off every so often and maybe that will help. They blame your phone, they blame the building. They never make the reception better and it never gets better. Never. Someone recently told me AT&T sucks because there is are so many people straining the system with their iPhones but AT&T had plenty of issues before their iPhone trophy wife. If someone makes a phone that works on the CDMA networks that I can live with, I will switch to Verizon. If I stay with GSM phones, based on reviews here, am reconsidering moving to T-Mobile.

In the two years that I have had the iphone, my service with AT&T has been very bad in my apartment in Astoria and throughout many areas of Manhattan. In fact, I still keep a land line just so I can have a working reliable phone when I'm at home. I'm not entirely convinced that the problem is solely AT&T's either, as many iphone owners I know of have similar issues with dropped calls, no ringing, calls going straight to voicemail, spotty service, etc... When my contract is up in December I will definitely be going with a different provider.

had Verizon for about 5 years. maybe about 3 dropped calls altogether. LG envy's battery life lasts me a good 4-5 days, considering that I send about 200-400 texts a day and a pretty decent amount of minutes daily, thats great for me. never had a problem and more than satisfied with the service and phone model I have. I highly recommend verizon

I'm the same guy who posted on 4 / 18 / 2008 and 11 / 29 / 2005. For the last few months, my service stinks. I break out the champagne if I get 2 bars.

Incoming calls does not ring my phone--it does not even go to voicemail many times, giving people weird UNAVAILABLE message. Lost important calls, contacts, business because of this. Switched to Cingular and it has 5 bars!

Inside my apartment, my reception fluctuates so much, I can't even touch my phone when I am on the phone, and I have to use my headset. It's just horrible. But if I go outside, it works perfectly fine. It's so frustrating!
