I used to live in Ann Arbor, MI, and this phone worked just fine. However, reception really SUCKS here in East Amherst. I went to a local Cingular retailer and inquired about this issue. I was told that, yes, the reception is poor, and there's nothing they can do about it because a town council-person in the neighborhood is not allowing any towers to go up here. However, Cinguar keeps telling me that they are in process of improving the coverage... should have cancelled the plan a long time ago. They are total liars.

The reception is decent, I think its my phone that isnt getting such a good signal, but Verizon is definately the best service provider in the area.

yo Verizon has the best reception of all the big name carriers. my friends dont even get signals in places I get full service or close to it. peace

Verizon reception is far better than any of the competition in this area. I have had Cingular and my wife has Sprint, with both of these carriers we had to stand next to a window at the rear of our house just to get a signal. With Verizon I can go anywhere in my house with out a problem. I don't even need the antenna extended, even if I am down in the basement! This is unheard of in my neighborhood since local restrictions prevent our having a cell tower that we desperatly need. (As a local benchmark, I can even make it well into the produce department at Tops (Transit & N. French) with any other carrier the signal drops at the store entrance)

This area seems to lack both GSM and TDMA coverage.
