Sprint is the worst when it comes to cellular reception in NY. I live on the border of Nassau / Suffolk counties and travel into Queens for work. I get dropped when I drive on Bethpage Pkwy. about 2 times. And the LIE is a toss up. The Sprint phone I have is an updated phone I had received the beginning of this year and I still get dropped calls the whole way through to Queens on the LIE. And I'm talking about 6 times on the LIE alone! And never in the same spot! My contract expires next week, THANK GOD! So, I'm currently shopping around for another cellular service.

Agreed with the person who wrote about the Farmingdale service above. I just moved here this month and my reception is AWFUL. The phone keeps saying "lost call". It's embarassing and unprofessional looking to the other person I'm trying to talk to. As you said, it does SUCK here in Farmingdale.

Verizon service sucks in farmingdale and massapequa. Had T mobil and it was better!

Drive on Entire Hempstead Turnpike from Queens to change-in-name to Conklin Street / Farmingdale, no problems whatsoever. Use noise-cancelling microphone / headset [Plantronics M175] [legal driving!]. Phone is i95CL;none better, lots are worse. Notice that most Nextel whiners use crap phones such as i730A [replaced with more functional i730T which wouldn't have the attendant problems and avoid the Nextel-bashing, etc.] cjl

Could be better, lose signal generally in East Islip and parts of Bethpage, near the golf course, other than that, the direct connect is cool and does not burn up minutes!

I used to work on Wall Street and have since moved to working in Downtown Brooklyn. The only thing that seems to stay very consistant is the fact that no matter were I seem to go. Nextel service is absolutely horrible. Oh, and on top of that I take the LIRR home every day and don't ever have any type of service for more than a minute or two.
