I am an old AT&T customer which was acquired by Cingular. Yes, I have an old system and old phone, and the reception sucks. I don't know is it because they are no longer spending money into fixing the towers for the old system or my phone is bad, but it sucks to use it. I get drop calls, I can't get reception on the street sometimes. It is horrible. The only reason I have stayed this far with the company is that when I wanted to get out of the company AT&T offered me a sweet deal of starting nights at 7 pm, giving me 1100 minutes plus nights and weekends unlimited. with all the problems I am having it is not even worth keeping this deal because I bearly benefit from the service. I think I'd just get either Cingular gsm or go to Verizon and be done with it.

Dropped calls... called Customer Service... will have the near-by towers checked... after 6 months, reception still stinks. Had my phone replaced, still reception sucks. I am going to switch to Verizon in Oct 2005 when my contract ends.

Reception is strong most of the time - Cingular is very reliable in many Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods - I get 4-5 bars. There are certain dead zones though... in the Jackson Hts. area e.g. But having had all major services like ATT, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile (with the exception of Verizon), Cingular is the best hands down in Flushing.

Reception is better than I expected. Fluctuates between 5 and 4 bars at times but that is still good. I had Verizon before and they were good but Cingular is cheaper has rollover minutes and I got a free camera phone.

Cingular plain sucks. Don't get Cingular. Not only is their reception poor, but their customer service sucks too.

Fairly solid reception. Nextel needs some new phones and better phone selection.

Amazing. Had Verizon for 8 yrs and switched to sprint. Sprint has awesome service here and has no complaint everywhere in ny city area. 3g speed is about.6mbs download and.4 to.8mbs upload. 4g gets 5to 8 mbs download and 1.1mbs upload. You can't go wrong with sprint. No dropped calls, has full bar where ever I go. I work in flushing, little neck and gvoes out to city and astoria often. No issues for 4g except in little neck. I am typing this with my cell phone!:-)
