T-Mobile is pretty bad on south campus. It's often completely non-existent inside cornell buildings and in my nearby home above college town, it drops calls about every 20 minutes and I have to sit by a window. I would not recommend T-Mobile in Ithaca. I can make it work, but it's not fun!

Reception if great in most of Ithaca - but seems to be bad inside buildings on Cornell campus. The only dead spot I encounter is if I'm travelling East on 79 headed to Whitney Point. I don't believe any one other than Verizon has coverage there.

Reception has been generally good in Varna (eastern edge of Cornell University between the orchards and NYSEG) -- except for occasional loss of signal around 10 PM - midnight. They can't build high towers here because it's the approach to the airport but there do seem to be new cell antennae on the water tower and the Varna fire station on Turkey Hill overlooking the hamlet. Not sure if those belong to AT&T though. Biggest loss of signal is on Route 79 heading away from Ithaca toward Whitney Point (meaning you lose your call when heading for I-81).

At&t works in most places, but I have spotty reception near the mall, and towards lansing and freeville. Reception in slaterville really sucks too. Sometimes if your phone doesn't work inside, it will work if you go outside. It works perfectly downtown, and even in some areas that Verizon doesn't work at all.

Works great. There is a tower on top of one of the buildings (I believe High Rise or Donlon) of North Campus. I get great service all over campus and my phone lasts several days without needing a recharge. I even get some service in the lower levels of Willard Straight. I never have a problem with dropped calls. However, I am not sure how well covered the off campus area is.

Wow, I never thought I would have zero reception at an airport, but it happened, at Ithaca airport, I got no signal on my Sprint service, Samsung A920 phone.

Was driving home to Pa. when my steering went out. Try to call anyone with my ATT phone total DEAD ZONE for miles and miles. When I complained they did nothing to help so I changes to Verizon now total service from college to home. Just say no to AT&t.

Excellent coverage in Collegetown and on the southern part of campus (engineering quad). Usually have little or no reception in parts of buildings below ground. No problems in Ithaca or around the mall area. Very spotty coverage on 79 outside of Ithaca to Whitney Pt. Poor reception in Lansing far away from the mall (near the high school).

There is no reception in Brooktondale / Slaterville area. Forget calling Verizon customer service, they exist only to drive you insane with ridiculous reasons for why things happen, then of course, they have no idea how to fix anything.

Verizon just put in a new tower on Cornell's North Campus on top of the Donlon dorm. Reception is now perfect!

T-Mobile is excellent in the heart of Ithaca, but if you go a little bit north (around the Pyramid Mall or the region airport, you'll get very spotty reception, or none at all. The funny thing is that the Pyramid Mall used to have a T-Mobile kiosk along with all of their competitors (Cingular, VZW, Sprint, etc) but they were forced to close up shop because there is literally NO reception up in the north. Call sell something that doesn't appear to work, I guess. Verizon is excellent throughout the populated areas of Ithaca and the surrounding area. I switched from TMo to VZW and all is fine with the world again.

Verizon has the best signal in the engineering quad including inside buildings other carriers get signals dropped when they go inside Phillips and the other buildings However Verizon sucks on north campus (when inside) - I lived in Jameson

I get reliable reception in my lower level apartment on West Hill. I generally get good reception around town and on the Cornell campus. As others have mentioned, reception is spotty in the countryside surrounding town.

Great reception on West Hill for both Verizon and Sprint. I switched from Sprint to Verizon due to Sprint's poor coverage on the Cornell campus.
