Cell phones. Most people have become dependant upon them. Just what the carrier wants. Big bucks come their way and no good service to you. If you expect the government to regulate think again. Look at your phone bill and look at the taxes applied. Like any other utility, cell phones have become a cash cow for them. We have a Motorola phone with Verizon service. Can't complain at all. The service where we have been is always great. Even when we travel up and down the East Coast. The only time our calls have been dropped is when we are in a very small valley and then the sun doesn't even shine there. So there will never be a signal in this type of situation regardless of what the carrier tells you. The signals from cell towers are pushed to a higher frequency which means the higher the frequency the less the signal is likely to penetrate your home for good reception. This is why the carrier Cingular is in an all out mad rush to place very large towers within a few hundred yards of each other. to blanket the area with signsl coverage. Did that in this area under the guise that all the people complaining about no reception in their homes would get it. Well, after five towers, no reception! What it boils down to is this. Anyone who ventures out to buy this new trendy technology should really research the product and service before the make that long term commitment to an outlandish bill. Really, do you need this as a service or just to keep up with the trend? I had a co-worker who thought thast it would be great to give her kid one. The first bill arrived at just under $1,000! Games, they got ya'commin! The moral, Buyer Beware! Do you really need one? We have one for emergency amd road trips. Good enough and if you are thinking of going to a cell phone, go with the best.. Verison.
