I have nothing but dropped calls and almost no reception in the lobby and basement of my building the same goes for my apartment unreal considering I reside in the heart of manhattan.
i have to send multiple text messages several times, I receive voicemails from calls 8hrs later, drop calls, cannot make calls, ect. I am breaking my contract to sign on with Verizon.
Calls get disconnected all the time in the middle of a conversation. During calls, the voice is broken and you cannot hear a complete sentence. You have to keep asking the caller to repeat what was just said. When you call someone and are put on hold for half an hour, it is extremely annoying to get disconnected. Is this what we are being charged big bucks for by AT&T? They deserve to be driven out of business.
AT&T is horrible. My phone didn't ring when people call or register that I had voicemail until days after the call. When the phone did ring, I had a one-minute countdown until the reception went out and the person on the other end couldn't hear me. I use my cell phone as my primary phone to talk to clients; less than one month after buying the iPhone and starting a 2 year contract with AT&T, I had to cancel my plan (and they won't waive the cancellation fee just because of a silly thing like your phone not being capable of being used as a phone) and get a Verizon phone.
No reception at all for voice calling on the 3rd floor of 10 W. 15th Street. EDGE (data) requests succeed sporadically, but definitely are not instantaneous. My other cellphone is a Motorola RAZR on the T-Mobile network. It gets 5 bars in the exact same location as my Blackberry 8310 on the AT&T network. Friends with iPhones (on AT&T) were unable to place or receive phone calls or texts from my apartment. There is definitely an AT&T dead zone where I live.
As of late, AT&T cell coverage has become terrible. E.g. long delays in transmitting text messages, dropped calls, loss of service. I'm curious if this is a homeland security issue in Manhattan affecting all carriers or if AT&T is just farming out its duties to subcontractors.
2 bars to 0 bars indoors. I pray never to receive or have to make a call in this area knowing it will be dropped or have spotty reception. 2g is almost as bad as 3g in this area.
This might be temporary as I have had reception here in the past, but now there is no reception between Spring St. and Houston St. on the west side of 6th Ave.
Ever since I switch from T-Mobile which was horrible to say the least. I haven't had anything but stellar service with At&t. My gf had Verizon and there wasn't one place in the city / long island or upstate that she got service and I didn't, love AT&T I do get dropped calls sometimes but 3G works great for me 90% of the time. Most people that have bad reception with AT&T and iphone are the same ones that refuse to update their phones or are just exaggerating about how they lose service. because I have been in many places with people with sprint / verizon / T-Mobile and with AT&T I always have service longer than any other carrier.
