On 10th floor of a building located at 46th st and Broadway, reception pretty inconsistent and Verizon may be selling too many phones and not upgrading their system, I cant get a connection to talk to my wife in the evening..

Great reception everywhere below 14th St. (even inside the 8th St. and Broadway subway station). Switched from Sprint which had a dead spot on 95th and Second Ave. and kinda crappy reception around the city.

Reception in the area of the Medical Center is generally okay, but very poor inside buildings, even on higher floors. It never cuts off on me when I'm outside, but inside buildings reception may vary from 0 bars to 4 bars in adjacent rooms.

On AT&T as I don't care to switch to Cingular. Coverage is inconsistent - sometimes 5 bars, suddenly dropping to 2, then back to 4, then dropped call, then... .

People dont seem to understand - most of the problems with reception are not due to carrier but the PHONE. Everyone I know who has used Sprint whines about how much their reception sucks but I use the sanyo-stick phones which are unpopular but they get AMAZING reception. I even get service INSIDE penn station!

Reception is spotty on the street and nonexistent in my apartment -- I have to keep the phone near the window to get any signal at all. If I leave it on my desk 15 feet away I'll miss calls.

Horrible reception between 5pm and 8pm. While the calls go through, the quality is extremely distorted and makes having a conversation near impossible.

Was a Verizon user for over 10 years..had a problem with a phone as soon as I upgraded and Verizon replaced it with a refurbished phone which was worse than my original... long story short Verizon says they are not responsible they do not manuacture the phones CLEARLY their clueless and yes agree with many Penn Station service SUCKS can't get a singal while foreigners are using cell phones from other countries. Switched to Cingular and for past has been AMAZING signals everywhere including Penn Station great officer prices, more important rollover minutes Verizon could care less about it's customers... p.s. customer service and technicians beyond rude and obnoxious all they know is "can you hear me now" dah not for long many friends of mine are having similar issues and are switching to other carriers once their contract expires.

I work in a building in Manhatten next to the Loews theatre on 19th st. I sometimes, MAYBE get 1 bar, so my phone can ring, but if I try to pick it up I get nothing, but it still wastes my minutes.

All around very pleased with the service. It has improved greatly over the years. I rarely get a dropped call and generally have very clear reception. Even works on Shelter Island! This phone has no bells or whistles. The graphics are terrible, no carmera, it is just a phone and it does the job.

Verizon is excellent all throughout parts of the city I travel. I have never had a problem with their service. Bar none the best quality in the city. Indoors, outdoors, on some subway platforms, epic coverage.

Everything I've read about T-Mobile on this site is absolutely correct. I experience all the same issues. I thought it may be just my phone or just me. I get full reception, standing in the same spot, that drops to zero and then drops the call. Does T Mobile have weaker signal strength? I left Verizon for this crap, probably heading back to Verizon. Cool phones are a plus... but only if they work! Verizon needs better phones and T-Mobile needs better service, at least in the US. I got better reception in the niddle of an African safari, no kidding!

Inside Baruch Campus, T-Mobile and Cingular seem to have the worst service. Nextel and Verizon has the best service so far. Out side the area around 24th st and lexington area, there are many dead zones and that just makes T-Mobile worst. I just use my phone to show off now days around campus because I can't use it to call or receive people.

Regular drop-outs... I'm fed up. What I don't understand is this: I drive every day in Manhattan and I know EXACTLY where the drop-out spots are. I always know when to tell the call recipient that I will call him or her back... because we're about to have a "lost call" thanks to Sprint. 79th Between 5th and 3rd. FDR drive just south of Waterside. Etc. It's embarrassing. Can't SPRINT just fix this stuff? It's been years.

Switched to Verizon from Sprint about 11 months after moving to an apartment across from Riverside Park. Sprint had dodgy service at best in my apartment, so I had the change carriers. Verizon has been perfect. No dropped calls and I always have a signal (even in the basement laundry room). I only wish Verizon had Sprint's prices... My Cingular b'berry hardly ever works in my apartment. The unit usually has to be held near a window in order to capture a signal.
