I may have 4 bars but service is schetchy. Just got off the phone with a rep who told me there are 4 cell towers out, and they've been out since yesterday. The real kicker is with their new contract agreement, they don't give credits for lack of service anymore. Imagine that, they're in business to provide service, yet they can get away with not providing service. What a joke!

Awful data reception in 61 Broadway. I'm no the 22nd floor, right next to a window. Calling seems fine, data (3G or otherwise) is non-existent.

I have AT&T, live next to the museum of natural history and yet... ... .yet, I cannot get a single bar of AT&T service in my very own apartment. We all know AT&T stinks for cell coverage in NYC, but one would think being located virtually next to one of the largest NYC tourist attractions, I might have a little bit of coverage. Nope. On a good day, you can find my husband and I waving our hands / phones in the air in 1 of 2 very precise spots within our apartment that once in a while, will actually transmit a text message. I don't understand how AT&T is getting away with this! I'm certainly far from a legal expert but isn't a contract a binding agreement that BOTH parties hold their end of the bargain? How is it that I am unable to terminate my contract when the other end is not fulfilling their end of the agreement??? To make matters worse, I pay a substantial amount of money to have this "phone service" each month yet I have to take private and / or professional calls in public on city streets and parks because I can't make a call in my own home? I once had to take a job interview via phone in a starbucks and was mortified when the baby next to me began screaming... ..I ducked into the restroom. The day my contract expires I am chucking my iPhone into the center of the street to watch MAC trucks smash over it all day long. I'm told it will cost over $200 to end my contract with AT&T, despite the fact I can't make or receive a single phone call outside of a public place. Unreal.

I just received the best news. The new Verizon iPhone 4s is GSM as well and can be used in Europe. Now I finally can throw my ATT iPhone off the roof. ATT reception is SO bad in the N. Y. metropolitan area, that I'm surprised that they haven't been sued yet for false advertising. Garbage. Absolute garbage. I lose 10-15 calls per day. Meanwhile, my wife has a Verizon iPhone and never has lost a call.

This is the WEIRDEST thing - I get 5 bars of 3G service in my office here, but absolutely NOTHING will load or work. I tested it out by dialing my cell from my work phone... and my cell phone didn't even ring. Makes no sense. I get better service and reception on interstate 84 up in Orange County than I do in midtown Manhattan. HOW. WHY.

ATT is simply TERRIBLE all over NYC, I only subscribed to ATT for the ATRIX, and now I am paying the price of pure aggravation on a daily basis! Every call I make, I get a drop on the line and need to reconnect... this is EVERY CALL, EVERY DAY. Crappy service support comes with ATT as well. Try complaining, you will get a CHANGE YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER! answer. Thank you ATT.

Every single call I make get dropped at least once in the course of our conversation. It takes 3+ minutes to load apps that use the web. Trying to load my twitter timeline today took more than 5 minutes. When I called to tell them about their service, they transferred me to about 6 different robot machines. When I finally spoke to a person she told me she couldn't do anything for me. I'm transferring to Verizon!

Is this the right forum to vent about AT&T's continuing crappy lousy for sh&t signal in Manhattan? That's right - smack dab in the middle of New York, New York. The truth is the complete opposite of their new ad campaign about a better network - the reality is that AT%T's sucks! I have a beautiful view of Central Park - from my window I see the lower half of Fifth Ave. and two-thirds of Central Park South. But since the first day we got our cell phones on AT&T, the signal has been so bad that we always ask to call folks back using our land lines. No improvement at all despite five years of complaints. Now, in this neighborhood, it's getting WORSE. Yesterday and today, distortion and dropped calls all over the neighborhood. Turn the corner from 70th St.onto Central Park West and it's like turning on a fuzz box. What's the problem with AT&T? BTW, my phone is a Motorola RAZR - V3 I think.

I have never had good reception in my apartment, but that used to mean that I needed to keep my phone by the window and couldn't talk in the kitchen. Three weeks ago, I started having NO reception in my apartment - I have emergency-call-only service in all rooms of my apartment except for once in a blue moon in the back room by the window. Needless to say, it is absolutely ridiculous and there is not a thing I can do about it as long as my company is paying my phone bills. BALLS.

No reception whatsoever on the first floor back in the year 2005 when I first bought my first phone ever, I was 15 years old. As soon as you enter the building, phone showed that there is no service. Since I had no service back then I decided to switch to AT&T at the time. Well recently about a month ago, I decided to buy the cheapest prepaid T-Mobile plan to see if this problem has been fixed and because I want to leave AT&T... But as of right now year 2011, the problem hasn't been fixed! A problem that has been happening since 2005! Called T-Mobile explained it to them, that it has been years that my building never gets service from their network. They said the signal was weak in my area but they couldn't guarantee that they would install a new tower just for me. And then people wonder why they're a failing business? 6 years and they never corrected the problem. No wonder they're going out of business! However I don't agree with AT&T buying T-Mobile as I want to leave AT&T. It is better that another company buys T-Mobile so that the consumers can have another GSM choice besides AT&T! If AT&T buys T-Mobile then AT&T will have a monopoly over GSM phones period! No matter how good their service is after they merge! STILL A MONOPOLY OF GSM!

Been ATT customers for 10 yrs. Since June 1, 2011 each time we use the cell the calls drop several, per call. Run my business on the cell. ATT employee told me it would last about 6 months because towers are being updated / repaired. Unacceptable. Will be switching asap.

163rd and Broadway, 3rd level. No service in my apt. and building from T-mobile. My MetroPCS phone - all 5 bars all around my apt and building. T-Mobile - No Service! Walked around the neighborhood (5-7 block radius) - Signal jumps between 2 bars and 5 bars... only few times got 3G signal.

Horrible service. Phone is a paperweight with AT&T. Doesn't receive or make calls. Text messages come over a day late. Forget even thinking about internet. When I do have a bar or two, calls are dropped or immediately forwarded to voicemail.

Appears to have full bars for phone and internet on my smart phone but the Media Net of AT&T provider has actually shut down. Message indicates there is no connection at the provider end, not at my phone. This happens more frequently since March 2011 and sometimes all my efforts to reconnect take hours to work. If I walk to Broadway with the phone it eventually connects with Media Net again. Terrible. Can't trust this provider and it is costly.

Lost reception last week Wednesday April 13th. Don't know why reception dropped to zero. I think it might have been a tower issued but ATT is no help with that. I really hope this won't last long because it's our only phone and I work from home. Just another note, went to ATT on Lex and 45th st and it took less than 10 seconds (not kidding) for the guy to tell me I need a new phone because the battery is dead even though the phone is 3 months old. He said "that's electronic stuff, it just stops working"
