I have no problems with T-Mobile reception in New York City. I remember a few instances when all circuits were busy (and it made me mad), but I'm generally very happy with the minute / data plans and the phone. When I sit in my apartment and am well away from any windows, I get 2-3 bars. Even then there is no deterioration in voice quality.

You have reception till you turn the corner on W 106 from Central Park West and then I get barely any reception in my apartment on W 106. I hate AT&T. If it weren't for their North American Roaming plan, I would have not gone with them at all.

Called to complain to Sprint as my cell phone kept on dropping calls, particularly when I was trying to resolve tech support issues (it's my only phone). First person I talked to was helpful but could not do anything so she passed me on. Second person informed me that sprint does not guarantee that you'll have service in a particular area and that apparently my phone just didn't work either in buildigns or because there were too many tall buildings around(if that's the case then how does manhattan get cell phone coverage). I told her that dropped calls happened all the time and if just to prove my point, the call dropped. As soon as I can figure out how to get out of my contract I am leaving Sprint.

Dropped calls constantly, bad reception. Phone will have 3 bars, take two steps and get 1 bar. Good bye Sprint.

It has sucked since I moved here. I've called T-Mobile several times, but the other end doesn't care. They will soon lose me as a customer. Shame on you wireless industry.

T-Mobile sucks in this area. I've seen an AT&T GSM phone work here, where mine doesn't.

So far, AT&T's GSM network reception is much better than my previous TDMA service with AT&T from midtown to Soho / Tribeca. I used to get 2 bars signal with my old Motorola V60 in Midtown. If there is any change, I'll repost.

Four out of the last eight weeks it has been impossible to make or receive voice calls in 10025. The signal strengh is fine but the phone will either report 'Error in system connection' or will make the call but will be nearly inaudible. Doesn't work in my apartment or in any of the streets around it. Works fine elsewhere in Manhattan. Definitely a Cingular problem since it was fixed for two weeks, now it's been back for two weeks.

Reception is rarely the issue for me. The big issue is that calls come in and callers get a "number not working message." Or worse, the call goes straight to voicemail and never even displays (ever) on my phone. If I am lucky, I get a notice that there is a voicemail. Sometimes it is a 3 -5 day lag. T-Mobile tells me this is due to "tower failure" (long term at this point) and claims they are not responsible. They have refunded a portion of my monthly bill when I press them on it though. At least customer service is pleasant.

I migrated from TDMS to GSM on AT&T several months ago and was surprised to see how much better is the reception. Wireless technology and cell saturation have a way to go - but I can assure anyone in the NYC area that AT&T GSM is quite good - and far from perfect.

This location is a cell phone black hole. So far T-mobile and Verizon have no coverage on this corner.

Some subway stations and elevators, New York, NY 10128 Sun Sep 19, 2004

I was shocked at how good my reception is with Verizon in NYC. I get an excellent signal everywhere, including most subway platforms and elevators in buildings. Maybe it has more to do with the phone than the service. I have a Motorola V60i from a few years ago that still works perfectly despite fairly heavy use.

I get no reception inside my apartment, while my brother who has Cingular has perfect reception. I seem to notice a trend with AT&T the higher uptown you go in Manhattan the worse the reception becomes.

Terrible reception in my apartment and in the surrounding blocks - there seems to be some kind of black hole. Also spent 4 days at a major hotel in NJ just 2 hours away from here and was basically without reception the whole time, while those with other carriers had no problem. Thank goodness my contract just ran out, I am switching ASAP.

Worse reception ever. It's alright in some streets. However, when I'm in a building or basement, there is 1 bar to no reception.
