Got Verizon in April and the signal was perfect. Worked in some subway stations too. Now, a month later has very intermittant service anywhere near the Empire State Building up to W 40th Street along Fifth. The tell me there is nothing in their system that indicates a signal problem. Can't get a signal at my apartment building on W 35th St anymore. :(

The reception is the worse. Giving it the rating of Poor is actually a good comment. I get some reception, and it cuts in and out, and it's horrible! The worse ever! I use to use AT&T and it was always full bar, it never broke when I was in my neighborhood. I get reception in other parts of the city but not here. And the reception isn't that great!!!! I just got this service less than a week ago. And have already been to the Cingular store 3 times, because they messed up on my account. Long story, but glad for anyone to hear the history of them trying to "port my old number" and foolish employees in their stores.

Using Tmobile for a couple of years and reception inside my apartment has recently turned horrible. I can't understand the person at the other end - it sounds choppy and echo-y. Also, walking outside on the north side of West 104th St gets the same bad reception, although the side side is fine - very strange.

Coverage is much better than last year. Last year I could not use the phone at all in the house except by the windows. Now I can even go two levels down in the basement and still get 4 bars. I usually have 4 bars, sometimes 5. Reception in pretty good in Queens and Brooklyn also.

I cannot make or receive calls when I am in my apartment. When I try, the few times the call goes thru, the audio is very poor. It is imposible to carry a conversation.

This is the highest natural point in Manhattan. There is often no T-Mobile reception here, inside or outside. Sometimes the signal is strong, however. One cannot count on T-Mobile in this location.

At street level on the corner an average of 3 bars. On the 5th floor of the same corner full 5 bars of signal. (Note that prior Verizon phone shows 5 bars at street level, but had comparable call quality).

Outdoors I get 5 bars, indoors I get between 1 and 2. If I stand by the window I can get 4 bars. However, even with 1 bar this SE T630 phone has been able to make and receive calls. On evenings and weekends when a lot of people are in my neighborhood (SoHo), there is more clipping/compression during a call. I think T-Mobile needs another cell site in this area, but for most of the day it's pretty good. I switched from Verizon, which always gave me 5 bars of service on a Motorola Timeport, but the quality of the calls wasn't as clear as it is with the T630 with 4 or 5 bars. AT&T also shows up as an available network but it doesn't reach all the way inside like the T-Mobile signal does.

Works ok outdoors - since I give it a range of 2-4, I averaged it out to a "3". Sometimes phone doesn't ring at all and I just get a missed call message/ or voicemail. Don't expect any reception indoors - I give that "0". No reception in other locations also sucks. Before this I had Verizon Wireless and had 4-5 reception in NYC and coverage in 95% of my locations - their customer service just sucked.

ATT Sucks in NYC. It was great in LA, but upon moving here about 85% of my calls go straight to voice mail. ANd this is supposed to be the "good ATT" service. Only Verizon and T-Mobile are very good in the city.

Lately, I've been having very poor reception in my office. I was told that T-Mobile had a cell problem in the region. When are they going to fix it?

I just moved from 74th b/w 2nd & 3rd, where I had great reception. Now when my phone rings I have to squeeze against the window to get just enough time to tell whoever is calling to call me on the land line before it drops the call. I went to the sprint store to complain, they laughed and said NO cell phones get reception where I live, which is b.s. b/c I know people who get reception w/ other companies in my building.

see comment on 90811. Looks like ATT GSM needs work nationwide. I spend too much time with nose pressed to glass.
