In my apartment on the 2nd floor I have to be sitting beside one particular window facing south to get one bar if I'm lucky. Boyfriend has Sprint with no problems with reception. I have to add that I have a very small year old phone that I didn't buy through the carrier (unlocked), which might be contributing to the problem, but I get good reception elsewhere in the city.
I have had Cingular for about 1 week now after switching from Verizon and haven't found one instance of no service (except in the tunnel under the east river (LIRR and Subway)) or very weak service in the tri-state. Get at least 3 to 5 bars of signal strength everywhere that I've been.
Perfect reception in my apartment. Migrated from ATT TDMA about 6 months ago and what an improvement. I travel around the metro and surburban area a lot by car and rarely get dropped calls which used to be the norm. The saturation is better than decent - though not perfect.
Just changed my old Motorola V60c (brilliant) after 2.5 years. Verizon reception perfect everywhere, can even take it in the bathroom. Just got this weekend Motorola V265 and had to change it after 48 hours - no sound, bad connection, static and dropping calls. Second new V265 brilliant - so far! Verizon is the best - with AT+T my partner has to hang outside my apartment window to get even one bar!
I am having the strangest problem. I intermittently get no signal at all on my 7100 in my office, while users of Blackberry 7230s get 3 or 4 bars. When I do occasionally have signal on the 7100 in this location, I get 3 or 4 bars! T-mobile has sent a replacement phone, which seemed to more consistently get signal for a while, but now repleats the same behavior. Popping my SIM in an n-gage QD yields full strength.
In my apartment it works fine. My girlfriend also had T-Mobile, but hers dropped calls all the time until she got a new phone. Her old one that didn't work well was the Sony Ericsson brick model.
