Very happy with T-Mobile coverage here, get an excellent signal indoors and outdoors. Get dropped calls on very rare occasions.

Cingular sucks! My husband and I are both on the plan and it's sometimes impossible to call each other. When I get off the 6 train on 86th, it takes up to 15 minutes to get reception. In my apartment service is never reliable. We had to get a land line because our cell phones rarely work. When we had AT&T we never had any problems. To get new phones we signed a 2 year contract when it changed to Cingular. We just waiting out the contract then we're switching to Verizon.

Most places in Manhattan the reception is great. In my apartment, mediocre at best. Enough to still make calls most of the time, but sometimes the service will just drop out for an hour for no discernable reason.

Just moved to a new apartment and the Cingular reception is terrible. Have to stand next to the window to get even a couple of bars. Going to switch.

On the street reception is ok, in my apartment I need to hang out the window to get a decent signal. Just upgraded to the 680 and reception is moderately better. I called Cingular and they admit their signal is "weak" in this area. They had no information for me about if and when new towers are going up.

Outside 145th St.'A' Train Station / 145th Street / St. Nicholas Ave. intersection, New York, NY 10031 Fri Dec 08, 2006

I often get out of the train and try to call my wife. I have to wait until I've walked almost to 145th and Convent (or 141st and Convent if I walk down St. Nicholas) to get any reception bars. It must be that the cell towers don't reach into that valley there, but it's annoying.

I almost never get reception inside (work, home or anywhere else). I generally have bars outside although voice quality is always terrible with frequent holes and lots of static and interference. Nice customer support people though.

While many people brag about the insane places they get 5 bars with Verizon or other carriers, my reception is very mediocre. I get one or two bars in my dorm (Wien) and barely any reception in Butler Library which makes having a cell phone relatively useless. Everywhere else is average, but it seems that among my friends verizoners are the most pleased with thier plan. Yea, my contract is out so I think ill switch to verizon.

i don't know why everyone complains about sprint. Had it for 10 years, never had a problem with reception. Except when I lived in brooklyn heights for a year. bad reception in my brownstone. In manhattan, jersey, ct and Mass, there are no problems. Don't remember the last time I had a call dropped.
