Wow, I don't know what happened. Suddenly I got 5 bars of service in the Lower East Side. Previously barely 1 bar. I was even using a M-Cell but tonight the new 5 bars are bumping me off the microcell because the AT&T signal is stronger. Well, 'bout time.

The reception is fine when my calls actually come through. Text messages will at times come in hours later. Sometimes people will say they tried to call me but I will have gotten no indication on my phone. The Sprint people tried to insinuate that I somehow broke my phone, but I have never had these problems when I'm not in NY and they tend to only happen on the weekends, so I'm thinking it's their network, not my phone.

the only place I've lost cell reception is on the NE corner of 40th St.and 5th Ave. (across from the NY Public Library). Step off the curb, and the reception is fine again.

Verizon works nearly everywhere I go in Manhattan. Only problem spots are my office desk next to a window (2 feet away works great) and in one elevator as it hits the second floor. The other two elevators have no problem.

No problems, works beautifully unless deep inside a building.

Takes a long time to find the signal, but once found it works fine, even inside buildings as long as you're not more than 50 from a window.

Had no problems for long time. Roommate still has no trouble with Verizon reception. But ever since a building was built behind mine - 2 stories above mine - I can't carry on a conversation because it cuts out every other word even though I constantly have 4 / 5 bars. They gave me a free SIM replace and upgraded the software in my Razr - still the same problem. I must say the service people were great, even though the reception isn't.

My preferred PDA is the Palm, but reception inside building on the Treo just didn't happen. I switched to Samsung Blackjack and I can now talk inside my apartment. But, I hate the blackjack for all other functions. Other than as a phone, it sucks.
